James Bond Box 3 Problem - For my set
 

I was just curious to see if anyone else had run into this problem. I bought the set about a month ago and finally watched one of the films today (Goldeneye). What I found was that all five of the movie discs were fine, but all 5 of the special feature discs had the menus in what looked like Chinese. I can't take the set back now, so I guess I have to contact Fox/MGM. Anyway, just curious to see if this was isolated or if a batch like this got out there. Thanks.

You're not alone. There's some megathread on the new sets in the archives and various people had this problem. Can't remember what the exact cause was though.

Just for the record, I bought my Volume 3 set about 2 months ago, and didn't get this problem.

I recently bought six of the individual films - Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, Man with the Golden Gun, Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker and For Your Eyes Only.

Can't remember which ones it was, but on a couple, I noticed that what I'm guessing is the standard verbage about opinions and commentary were written in Chinese. Everything else seemed OK.

It has something to do with the fact that the bonus discs are coded for both R1 and R3. Beyond that, it probably has something to do with the player - maybe it's region-free or maybe something to do with the language settings.

I had a similar problem Jrsl. Everything looked normal on mine except that right after the FBI warning, instead of the screen that warns you that the commentary doesn't represent the views of the studio..blablabla..I had the same message but in Chinese. I talked with some other members here and it comes down to the fact that these are coded for multiple regions and it's just the way your player picks up the code.

Well, mine was on the movie discs, not the bonus discs, as I don't have any of those. My player is strictly R1.

I have a cheap Phillips 642 (? - can't remember offhand), a quick cheap replacement for a Malata that crapped out, coded for all region. Do you think if I reset the code to R1 when I watch them, that it will correctly display?
