Cujo Special Editon - 9/25
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/9172
I've been waiting for this for years to replace my crappy fullscreen version and what does Lionsgate do??? ITS STILL FULLSCREEN. Idiots! And they have the balls to call this a special edition. I'm hoping this is a mistake. |
LG seriously sucks balls when it comes to reissues.
They constantly claim 16x9 when films obviously aren't, and now full screen reissues? Unexcusable. |
What a bunch of dicks
|
Unbelievably lazy. I think they are sitting on a load of 80s horror gems aswell. But if they can't even give a film a proper widescreen release, I think asking them to release some horror titles would be abit too much for them, since they are a film company which is supposed to release titles on DVD  , I wouldnt want to put them out too much, and give them money
|
Too bad. It would have been a must-buy for me in its OAR.
|
My 1st thought seeing the title of this was 'Finally Cujo has made it to widescreen dvd!'
...LG stinks  |
In this day and age it's unacceptable to release a "Special Edition" not in its original apsect ratio. This is just a case of LG being too lazy to remaster the film. I hope it's at least a new transfer but it probably will be the old cruddy one from the original disc. Morons!
|
Its amazing they are actually releasing The Monster Squad in its OAR. Thank god they can do one thing right.
|
i guess ill wait until its on blu-ray or hd until i get it, maybe by then it will be wide.
|
If lucky, the information is wrong. It happens sometimes. So I won't bitch until the back cover art is available.

This was released with a great transfer and director commentary here
|
Cool. Now all I have to do is learn french, translate the website, and buy the DVD! ;)
|
I purchased two Lionsgate new DVD releases this year (The Silent Partner and Champions). All indications for both of these were originally full screen, but they came out in enhanced widescreen. I'm sure the same will apply here.
|
The series finale of the Will & Grace DVD was supposed to be in widescreen & it even was listed as widescreen on the back of the box but it was cropped fuckin' full screen.
Lionsgate sucks balls when it comes to alot of their DVD releases. S6 of W&G was originally aired in WS but full screen plus syndicated episodes! all 4 seasons of ALF had every single episodes syndicated vr. -Bloody Hell! |
Wow, that's horrible. I was really looking forward to getting a decent disc of this. :(
|
I heard an update is that it'll be in glorious WIDESCREEN (from dreadcentral.com).
|
Yup, indeed.
Here is the link clarifying it is indeed OAR. http://www.dreadcentral.com/index.ph...ticle&sid=2378 Awesome! September is really killing my bank account! |
Ok, so they've partially redeemed themselves. They suck little balls then. I'm still mad about Weeds: S1 and Someone Behind the Door being non-anamorphic, and in the case of the former, being cropped full screen.
I'll certainly be picking this up, though, now that it is indeed widescren. |
OK, so LG is a bunch of STUPID dicks. They still can't even make a proper press release! There is also no mention it being an anamorphic transfer, so I will have to wait for more info before putting it on my wish list.

Full spec list from Fangoria:
• Audio commentary by director Teague • Dog Days: The Making of CUJO, Part One featurette on how director Teague got involved, adapted the screenplay, cast the actors, chose the locations and dealt with the challenging filming conditions • Dog Days: The Making of CUJO, Part Two featurette on filming with the dogs, choreographing the attacks, working with the actors and finding the right ending • Dog Days: The Making of CUJO, Part Three featurette on the editing and the scoring, the sneak previews and CUJO 25 years later The featurettes contain all-new interviews with Teague, producers Daniel H. Blatt and Robert Singer, stars Dee Wallace and Dan Pintauro, King biographer Douglas E. Winter and others. Retail price is $19.98. It also lists "collectible O-card packaging". Can someone tell me what the fuck this is? O-card? First the "new" Halloween disc and now this. Am I out of the loop or is this just another lame gimmicky type of thing? |
O-card is just another word for slipcase... correct?

You could get a French-Canadian friend to help or use http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to do all the work for you. And you'd be getting that all-important directory commentary :eyebrow: |
I read on HTF that Lionsgate confirmed Cujo is 1.85:1 WIDESCREEN! Apparently DavidDVD had the wrong info. Not official but hopfully true.
