Question about removing sticker
 

I recently bought an used rental dvd and it has a sticker on the center ring. I've read already about Goo-Gone working to remove stickers on cases. Is it OK to use it on a dvd to remove that sticker without damaging the dvd?

You might not want to risk damaging the DVD just to remove a security sticker. More than likely, if you attempt to remove a disc "shield", you'll probably end up damaging the disc too.

If it doesn't look too "ugly", I say just leave it there.

Better than i could ever said it, i tried it once and it totally screwed up my dvd. :grumble:

Thanks for the warnings. Well, it's not that big a deal. It's just that it'd been nice to have been able to remove it. I didn't dare to remove the upper part 'cause once you have the VOIDs exposed, all that glue would have just stuck the DVD on my player. I usually don't buy used rentals, but since this was an OOP title (Silent Night, Deadly Night 1 & 2) and it was just for $4.99, I just had to grab it.

I thought that was a flipper disc?

it is, but both movies don't have any problem skipping last i checked them.

Hey im having a similar problem, but it is with removing the price stickers off of slipcovers. They are a pain to remove and they always leave residue. Is goo gone safe to use on cardboard slipcovers?

WD40 works Great on my end!

Someone else mentioned this method here and it seems to work pretty well. What you do is use the removed sticker and with the sticky side, press it over the residue parts, this should take off a good portion of it. I've tried it twice so far and the one it seemed to remove it all, the other most of it...

BTW, I'm assuming when you say residue, the sticker didn't rip off and leaves the sticky substance.

This happened to me today!! I bought the Hills Have Eyes 2, and the price sticker came off, but left behind really sticky residue. We used GooGone...use a small amount, and don't let it sit on the cardboard slipcover. Put a little on, wipe it off, and keep repeating. Be extra careful if it's not a glossy slipcase, though!

I use a hairdryer to take off the stickers. Put it on the low setting, apply the heat to the sticker and it comes right off. Works every time.

Heatgun is another alternative . But yeah, heat does help pretty big!
