Or how they dropped the ball by releasing this at the wrong time. Or maybe something deriding the lackluster intelligence of moviegoers for ignoring a great movie like this one.

Yeah this is my favorite movie of the year by a long shot. Let's hope we get a decent edition. Hopefully we get a formal announcement real soon with all the details.
Fincher is currently shooting 'Benjamin Button' which he jumped right into after Zodiac, so I'm not sure if we can expect the comprehensive DVD release that usually accompany's one of his films. |

Great movie. My favorite movie of the year so far. I hope they campaign for it for the Oscars. It would be nice to see Mark Ruffalo get a nod.

Didn't see this, but definitely intrigued by it. And the story behind it ever since a segment long ago on Unsolved Mysteries. Everything I've heard indicates it's more than worthy of a blind buy. So, looking forward to 7/24.

They should have opened this in December. Middle America doesn't give a shit about true crime when Tim Allen and John Travolta are on motorcycles in the same multiplex. WAY too good for March...this movie further exemplified Robert Downey Jr.'s rip-roaring return to film that started with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. He should get the Oscar nomination, but Ruffalo was also great.
Honestly, Paramount should disregard a summer DVD release and re-issue it in the fall. This happened (albeit not amazingly) with Wonder Boys, and I think this movie is something that just can't be ignored. Either way, I will clearly have this ASAP. P.S.: Anyone think Gyllenhaal's character was eerily similar to Dale Cooper? The boyish charm and tenacity and the Eagle Scout references made me believe this. |
An awesome film. But I dunno how much replay value it has. Great pacing for being so long though.

Ugh, once again the big head syndrome ruins another cover. I understand the selling point, but the original poster would have looked much better. Just sayin'.

That cover almost makes me want to cry. It isn't some shit Photoshop job, but it makes the movie look really lame. Which it isn't.

Cover art is decent, but lacks... something. Or, maybe just the reverse: too crowded. Nice touch with the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline, but the floating heads don't work as well.
In any event, this smells of a single-disc release. Which sucks, I was hoping for a two-disc. Perhaps that will follow later in the year. If there's even a chance, I'm not sure I want to bother with this one. --THX |
I think the lack of the phrase "DIRECTOR'S CUT" anywhere on that cover is a pretty big indication of a double-dip somewhere down the line.

Loder: The movie doesn't feel long, though. Is it going to be longer on the DVD? Fincher: I believe so. It's really a question of ... I mean, right now these DVD windows are so short that we're already talking about the DVD, you know? We were talkin' about the DVD two weeks ago, and I was like, "You gotta be kidding." I mean, can we worry about getting the movie in theatres before we worry about prepping it for the disc? Loder: Were there any scenes that were particularly heartbreaking for you to cut out? Fincher: Yeah. There's a scene that I want to put back — although I agreed at the time that it didn't play. It was a great scene before the cops get the search warrant to search Leigh's trailer. Anthony Edwards, who I think is phenomenal, and Mark Ruffalo, who I couldn't be a bigger fan of, and Dermot Mulroney, who's just delicious in this part, go into Dermot's office and just talk to a speakerphone for about five pages. I just loved it. I loved the "Charlie's Angels" thing with the speakerphone. One of the guys would talk, and then we'd actually cut to the speakerphone. It was so much fun. I'll probably put that back, just because I love the idea of police work just being three people in a room talking to a speakerphone. |
That cover looks boring and Jake looks cross-eyed.

Cover art looks more appropriate for a season of Law & Order than this film. Nowhere near as nice as for Fight-Club (2-Disc), Panic Room (either release), or even The Game. I forget what the original one-sheet for Zodiac looked like.
