I'm a real sucker when it comes to Steelbook packaging. I even bought 'The Day after Tomorrow' only because it was in a nice pretty tin box! The movie was pretty okay i guess. :P
But yeah i just spent 47$ on my pre-order from best buy and i'm really tempted into buying the Futureshop steelbook edition.. someone stop me..
One more reason NOT to convert to HD-DVD or Blu-Ray! Freakin packaging! The collector in us just cannot accept those stupid tiny little red and blue boxes next to our pretty editions!
Here they are for those who didn't see them :

IMHO, that helmet is pretty dumb, kind of like that silly mask they put out with Vendetta last year, but a steelbook......now that's something that piques my interest.
Will there be any domestic availability of a steelbook, or will it just be a bilingual Canada-only item...eh?

Yea, I'm over the whole special packaging steelbook, tin, etc, etc, etc. In fact I think I made a comment about one and was informed that it was NOT a tin but a Steelbook. Whatever, they are just a gimmick now.
The helmet is what I want!!!!!

Now just hang on, I don't even see any 300 DVD available on Bestbuy.com yet. Give them some time.

Can't identify with the need for the helmet, but to each his own. Now the steelbook I will take, but I'm not going to order from Canada or pay any extra money just for it. Maybe BB or Target will put out a special package with a bonus disc or something.

The HD-DVD has some pretty sweet exclusive features :
arner Home Video is planning to push the boundaries of high-def technology with the July HD DVD release of '300,' which is set to include the world's first "blue screen" picture-in-picture commentary.
Warner first announced '300' in early May for a July 31 release on both Blu-ray and HD DVD, with initial specs including an In-Movie Experience video commentary track (exclusive to the HD DVD version).
Though IME tracks are common to many HD DVD releases, '300' will be unique in that it will include what Warner is dubbing the first-ever "Blue-Screen Picture-in-Picture Version." Throughout the track, director Zack Snyder will present the pre-CGI-enhanced version to the finished film, allowing viewers to compare the entire movie in both rough and completed forms.
The HD DVD will include several other additional exclusive features, including the "Vengeance and Valor" interactive game, a "Pick Your Favorite Scenes" function allowing users to assemble clips and create a unique montage, as well as other web-enabled downloadable features to be announced.
