f.y.e. will have an exclusive bonus disc according to the ads they have up in their stores.

As for the steelbook, was that ever seriously rumored for a U.S. release? Or was it all just wishful thinking on our parts?

The steelbook is listed a FutureShop exclusive, which is an electronic retailer like BestBuy in Canada (actually, BestBuy owns FutureShop)..

FutureShop have given away empty steelbook cases at checkout when you purchases the DVD.. I have one for Cars, Little Mermaid, V for Vendetta and Underworld: Evolution.. But lately they've been releasing the DVD in it's own steelbook packaging..

I've notced that sometime HMV here gets Target exclusive DVDs..

Best Buy bonus disc is on 2nd disc of SE?

correct me if i am wrong, but this review from DVD Movie Guide seems to indicate that:

Originally shown on the Internet, 12 Webisodes go for a total of 38 minutes, 20 seconds. These present remarks from Snyder, Headey, Butler, Santoro, Miller, Johnstad, Twight, Wenham, Watts, production designer Jim Bissell, costume designer Michael Wilkinson, stunt coordinator/fight choreographer Damon Caro, assistant stunt coordinator/assistant fight choreographer Chad Stahelski, creature shop supervisor Mark Rappaport, special effects makeup supervisor Shaun Smith, and actors Vincent Regan and Dominic West. Quick promotional bits, these look at production design, wardrobe, stunts, the graphic novel’s adaptation, the actors, their characters and their training, visual effects, and some aspects of Spartan culture.

Even though the “Webisodes” clearly exist for publicity purposes, they still often manage to provide good information. The first three “Webisodes” deal with production design, wardrobe and stunts, and those prove especially valuable. I also like the ones that check out visual effects, training, makeup and characters. Most of the others tend to be somewhat fluffy, but all remain enjoyable. The “Webisodes” are probably the best extras found in this set.

is the same exact material as on the Best Buy bonus disc.

um... 300 in english and french still reads as '300'. Now if they put a synopsis on the back, yeah it'll probably be bilingual, but lots of steelbooks just have artwork on the back, so we'll see...but I'd be surprised if any French makes it's way onto it...

What? It won't say "Trois-Cent"??

Seriously, The Departed steelbook had nothing on the back cover, but the recent re-releases of Fight Club, Cast Away, Platoon, et al. did have the synopsis right on the back of the case.

Also, there's still the issue of FutureShop not shipping out of Canada......jerks.

Speedy posted Circuit City's and Target's exclusive info. Surprised there's nothing with the graphic novel...

Target:

Target Deluxe Edition includes 300 movie download (full theatrical version) for PC or mobile device with exclusive “Making of 300” download and over 90 minutes of thrilling extras on a bonus disc // Quantity limited // no rain checks

Circuit City:

He seems to indicate this is only with the regular edition. I remember they did postcards for Spider-Man 2.1 which were packed in the DVD, so if they're packed directly in like that then that's probably correct they won't be in the Deluxe.

Circuit City Exclusive: Free set of 4 collectible cards from the movie 300 // While supplies last // Minimum 20 per store

What Best Buy bonus disc? I thought they were just getting the exclusive helmet and postcards packed with the regular 2-disc Deluxe edition.

I think he means The Making of 300 DVD that BB released in March with the free movie ticket inside. I still have a copy of this and hope the material is still exclusive to the disc. Otherwise I'd have to use it as a coaster.

I'm very confused about the Target exclusive with the way they have worded it. Seems like it could go one of two ways:

1.) The bonus disc is like a DVD-ROM or CD-ROM only. Will not play in regular DVD players. Includes downloadable film (big deal) and 90 minutes of exclusive bonus material.

2.) The bonus disc contains 90 minutes of extra material that can be viewed in your regular DVD player. It also contains DVD-ROM content: the downloadable film for your PC.

If option 2, count me in for a purchase -- unless the packaging sucks!

So no Steelbook for R1.....except for the FutureShop one which may or may not have a bilingual synopsis.........

not likely, but we don't know about Best Buy. the steelbook won't have a synopsis in any language on it. just art on both sides.

Not likely since the original GN was printed in landscape format and was full color.

There's no way to economically size it down without killing the artistry of it.

shyguy1083 07-20-07 12:35 AM

just further confirmation that Best Buy stores in the US will be getting the helmet pack...

<img src="http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9138/300cj5.jpg">

the item SKU will be 8411408. price is $34.99 barring any first-week sales. the full item title is "300: spec ed (w/ helmet + art)". still no info on a steelbook, but we can hope!
