Yep, BD for me.

I'd be very surprised if it's not coming in HD versions. They usually just don't announce them as far in advance as the DVD counterparts (see K. Branagh's Hamlet which has yet to be announced for HD).

As previous poster mention Transworld stores (FYE, Suncoast, Coconuts, Sam Goody, etc...) are taking presales for a $2 deposit on this and are offering a bonus disk of some kind.

Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of 300 on 31st July 2007. The epic graphic novel by Frank Miller (Sin City) assaults the screen with the blood, thunder and awe of its ferocious visual style faithfully recreated in an intense blend of live-action and CGI animation. Retelling the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, it depicts the titanic clash in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his massive Persian army.

Nice specs ... though the special features seem a little thin. Reminds me of V for Vendetta. Nonetheless, the movie was good and I will definitely make this one of the few DVDs I buy on release day. Hopefully there will be some retailer exclusives like a steelbook, special lenticular slipcover, or comic book pack-in.

too bad the History Channel doc isn't included.

HD DVD for me! This movie was f**kin' kick ass! Too bad it's a combo though, but I can't buy the BD, because 1) less special features and 2) the blue BD case will look like shit with that cover.

I watched that doc the other day and was hoping they would include it, like the 3rd disc in Black Hawk Down set. I feel it adds more weight to the events in the film. Hopefully someone will do an exclusive with the book.

i agree that the extras are sparse as well - like others, i had hoped that the history channel doc would be there. nevertheless, i will be picking this up on release day.

On the Best Buy bonus disc. That's why I'll probably pick the one-discer up at some point and slap in that little number as Disc # 2. Looks like it'll be a little more comprehensive than the two-disc edition ... and less expensive with better coverart. :up:

HD for me...

Looks like a pretty good DVD, not quite as packed as say, Pan's Labyrinth, but pretty good nonetheless.

Well, I liked the film enough to see it twice in theatres, so yeah, I'll probably pick up the two-disc, and stick the Best Buy bonus disc in with that (because it's really a great collection of BTS footage and interviews).

Gah and I missed out on the Best Buy disc... :(

Sparse extras? That's a special feature in itself. An interactive one -- "Live like a real Spartan and do without a ton of special features!"

I'm in for the 2-discer and will gladly double dip later on in life if it comes down to it.

These features for the 2 disc sound about par for the course with Warner of late....like when V for Vendetta 2 disc didn't have a hell of a lot on it... but I'll take what I can get! I'll pick up the HD DVD of 300 for the interactive stuff the BD doesn't have.
