Oh thank you god! I missed this last time and then suddenly... POOF they were gone. I am glad it's not gone for good.

Ouch, I feel kind of bad for the people who paid insane prices for this on eBay. Well not too bad since I made some money off of them. Anyway, I'll definitely get the new set! Woo!

Ditto. I partially funded a ski trip with the proceeds from the sale of my last one. Glad its being made available again though.

I still own the original boxset, but will probably upgrade, especially for a better transfer/special features...

Looking for opinions here...

There is a five disc set coming out in the UK on May 14. I have that one pre-ordered for my fiance. The UK version on Amazon.uk comes out to like $50US shipped. What are you guys' thoughts on holding out for the US version? What is the likely price (in your estimation) and what feature can we expect on the US version (UK version appears to be bare bones)?

Any thoughts/suggestions welcome... gotta stop the pre-order by the 14th, if I want to wait for the US version... Thanks!

GoVegan 05-02-07 04:16 PM

I hope you don't have to preorder, get triple-billed for it and then receive the bonus materials two years after the DVDs.

*grumble*

Edit: wmermine - that wasn't aimed at you - it was in reference to the original release.

My girlfriend is gonna freak out when I tell her about this later today. She still talks about how that show made Jared Leto "dreamy". I was like 9 when it came out (she's 5 years older than I am), but I'm interested in seeing what it's all about.

Thanks Riotinmyskull.

Loved the show but didnt get the original high priced set so i will for sure be picking this up

Sparrow 05-02-07 07:42 PM

Great news, I sold my original set off before I actually watched the entire series (a friend got a steal ($10) from me as she was absolutely in love with the show).

I'll plan to keep this set this time around, at least long enough to watch the entire series).

tylergfoster 05-02-07 07:57 PM

Does it look like Shout Factory! may have absorbed or become the company that released the last set? That would be my first suggestion, to find a link between whoever released the last set and Shout Factory! to know if there will be extras, since if they bought the show they probably picked up the DVD features.

Mr. Plow 05-03-07 01:23 AM

This is fantastic news.

bookcase3 05-03-07 08:08 AM

Slim packaging would be a real plus. That's why I didn't pick it up the first time around: no room. (Same reasoning behind waiting for New York: The Documentary.)

DeanoBKN 05-03-07 10:15 AM

Great news! I had paid an insane amount to get this set as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend a couple years ago, but I always wanted a set for myself too.

DJ_Longfellow 05-03-07 11:20 AM

Dang....I guess I cannot sell my wife's set for crazy amounts of money now. Oh well.

You definitely can. There's a bit of a lag between when us DVD perverts get our news and the general public digests it. eBay prices have probably taken a small hit, but if you put it up to end in a week or so, I bet you do pretty well.

Kocheese99 05-03-07 11:55 AM

Glad to hear it's finally coming back out again. I might be able to finally retire my original set. I'm definately going to hold out until more info is released, knowing our luck it'll be edited for music or something.

Not according to the story linked to in the first post.

wowbagger 05-03-07 01:22 PM

Fantastic news.

brooke789 05-03-07 01:53 PM

Awesome! I bought one from BB when it was originally released. I think I'll sell it for $$$ on ebay and rebuy when this one comes out. I actually don't like the packaging. Surely the new one will have a different (read better) design. The least they could do is put the discs into slimline cases!
