Superman III, IV?

Why do you think they brought these out only in 2.0 audio? Is there plans on an upgrade down the road.

Seems wierd theyd release an upgraded 5.1 Superman and Superman 2 but not the rest.

Why does that seem weird?

Considering that the practically unanimous consensus is that 3&4 are substantially inferior to 1&2 it's completely understandable that the "Special Edition" treatment those two films received wasn't as elaborate as their predecessors.

Warner has no plans to re-release these with 5.1 tracks, probably will never happen.

starseed1981 04-30-07 08:02 AM

Yeah, I think even Warner Bros. tries to pretend that these never happened. I doubt they would acknowledge there existence with SE treatment.

eedoon 04-30-07 08:49 AM

I'm glad Warner didn't waste their time and money to get a 5.1 audio transfer for those two films.

Fok 04-30-07 09:24 AM

While I agree that 3 and 4 shouldn't of been made at all (unless Donner was involved), Warner should of put the effort in to include 5.1. Why only go half way when this is the ultimate box set and we're not going to see anymore future releases?

islandclaws 04-30-07 10:49 AM

I'll also agree. While I found it painfully difficult to make it through III, and I haven't even mustered up the strength to attempt IV, I still think they should get 5.1 tracks. Good audio can make a difference with a crap film.

TheMovieman 04-30-07 11:30 AM

^ I have to disagree with that statement... A crap film will always be crap no matter how good the sound is. There was no need for SE's for 3 and 4.

"shouldn't have" and "should have"

And I agree that at the very least, Warner should have given us 5.1 audio on the recently re-released DVDs. Whether we like them or not (and I hate those flicks), they are part of the Superman movie legend, and they deserve better treatment.

mike01 04-30-07 12:12 PM

so do we all agree their not even worth buying?

Im in the process of picking some of these up soon when I see them go on sale.

Ok... maybe a bit of a mis-statement on my part. I didn't so much mean it would make the film better as I meant it would make the overall experience of watching it (slightly) less painful.
