Thanks everyone for the positive comments....we just picked out a new sectional couch and its due to be delivered within the next two weeks or so. Of course that means the computer needs to be moved now...the tinkering/fine tuning continues....

Post Pics of your home theatre
Hi Guys
I have an earlier post stating that my Daughter has moved out and I am converting her bedroom into a home theatre. I am looking for ideas from paint color to curtains to chairs etc. I would like to see what you guys did. I have a budget of about 6k and I want the room to look very sharp without alot of clutter. My DVD collection will be going into the walk in closet it will be just furniture and components exposed in the room. Show me what you got!

Their is 11 threads ("11 Parts"), most of em' get shut down after awhile either due to the thread getting too long or someone starts shitting all over someones HT/DVDs.

I don't' have great pics, but will show you what I got. Note 100% of work I did myself. I had a buddy help for part of it. My room is roughly 15X13 I believe, with one long wall full of windows and the opposite long wall having a built in cabinet. My original budget for everything except seating was $2,000 and pretty much came in on that. Even with the theater chairs, I'm only at about $2,800, but I do plan on a row of Berklines for the front in the future. right now using an old couch.
And IMHO a theater room is never "done". I recently installed new carpet and got a new case to hold DVD and display some items.

pre-theater
framing for the riser I built
Riser complete, with glue down carpeting
when I did some of the wiring. The guys here at the forum were a HUGE help with this. My wife about freaked when she saw all the wires sticking thru these large holes I cut in the built in cabinet/walls
My screen/front speakers. I built the screen myself. This is one of those things I wish I would have done differently. I was "scared" to cut a hole in the wall and then try to drill the the top plate to run the wires. So I just put the wires up thru the ceiling, then covered the wires with plastic conduit wrap. It looks "ok" but would have been cleaner yet if I had do it the right way.
Couple of personalized THX/Dolby signs that I made myself but just downloading hi res images from the net and then modifing in ms paint and taking to Target to print on photo paper.
These are the theater seats I installed on the riser. Bought used off e-bay. Great deal. Very comfy for theater chairs. I wanted theater chairs here to save space. I got six in for what recliners would have been only 3 or 4 at the most.
This is where I mounted the PJ and installed new track lighting. This is my old X1. I have since upgraded to a HD70.
This also shows the drapes better and the room "in use"
Some cheap posters I found
This shows the new carpet I recently installed. I used commercial carpet squares and LOVE them. Easy to install, build in "pad". You can pick them up to wash in the sink or or get really stained, lift one out and replace with a new one.
This is a new corner display I put in. Including Black light Spock poster complete with black light
Lessons learned: I wish I would have taken the effort to put the speaker wires in the wall. And I kind of wish I had taken down that sort of gold "siding/panel" on the rear wall. But over all am pleased, and continues to be a work in progress. Also should have made the risher a couple of inches taller.
If you guys think the post is to long, I'll try to go in and mod the format.

Mr. StayPuftMan -
Is that a tin edition of SUPERMAN RETURNS you have in the second to last picture? (I tried to look at your "My Collection" link but I can't get a proper connection.)
If so...Nice! And how do I get one?

Thanks for all the replies! I've been browsing these pages for quite a while, and I think it's a great way for people to get ideas. I bought my StayPuft marshmallow Man after seeing someone had it in their collection

Excellent HT setup MrStayPuft. For a 20 year old college kid you have a pretty damn good DVD collection & TV/etc. You have the exact same racks (the ones to hold DVDs, not the other kind) I do for my DVDs.

Now keep in mind that my 'Media Room' as I call it is about 7 feet wide. There is no way for me to get the entire collection in one picture. The entire case was built by me with a few screws and some 6' pine boards. Unfortunately I am running out of room so stuff is being sold to make room.
First one is the CDs ro at least some of them.

These are the DVDs. TV sets are kept in the family room.
