iTunes or wait for DVD?

I saw a thread similar to this...sort of...but not really, so here goes!

I'm really afraid that Comedy Central's "Dog Bites Man" from last year won't get a DVD release. Mainly because it was 9 episodes, and mainly because it's o longer in production. I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and buy the season on iTunes for $14.99 before it disappears forever.

Also, things like "The Sarah Silverman Program," and the new "Human Giant" on MTV...Love, love, love to watch, but I don't want to miss my chance.

Thing is, these types of shows aren't going to gain a whole lot from the DVD treatment anyways, besides the bonus features (which could be great).

Also, I intend on getting AppleTV someday, so it's not like these can't be watched on my TV anyways.

What do y'all think? Will iTunes ever get rid of programming and will they let us know before it's taken down? Is it wise to hold out for a DVD release only to be disappointed later when it isn't and then it's gone from iTunes as well?

AHHH!!!! What do I do?!!?

iTunes has occasionally taken down content. If I were you I'd buy "Dog Bites Man" on iTunes now, and wait for the DVD of "The Sarah Silverman Program." I'm sure that will be released on DVD because I believe it was picked up for a second season.

I wonder the same thing about Tremors: The Series....

Well, I guess for $15, if I double-dip in the end, it's no big deal. For "Human Giant", what is MTV's history of releasing sets? I know they've done Jackass, Bam, the Hills, and Laguna Beach...

Its Hit & Miss with both MTV and VH1, atleast from what I have noticed. Its what season 4? for Hogan Knows Best and no dvd in sight. Punk'd stopped after season 2 I think. Those are 2 that come to mind...

I was surprised to learn that South Park is available without bleeps on iTunes, but the DVDs still have them. Now I'm tempted to go with iTunes.

I wonder if that's common or if South Park is the exception.

The bleeps are suppose to be there. They are much funnier with the bleeps then with out them. This has been stated many times by Matt and Trey. Can you give me an example of a bleeped episode on DVD and the same episode on iTunes without it?

majorjoe23 04-23-07 01:40 PM

I've only watched the most recent season from iTunes, but there are no bleeps at all. I haven't watched any of the episodes I already own on DVD (the first nine season) through iTunes.

I was considering getting Smith off of iTunes, but I have been hoping a DVD set would be released.

MTV's The State Season 1 is another show that is only available on itunes. I haven't bought it yet, but I probably should since I'm willing to bet they track these to plan for a potential DVD release.

It's a tough call...would you rather drop $$ on it now, only to have it come out on DVD later? Or hold out for the DVD, which may never come, and miss it on iTunes also...then you're screwed!

Yeah, Season 11 is uncut on iTunes. They advertise that when showing new episodes of South Park on comedy central. Personally I prefer the beeps, makes it quite a bit funnier in my opinion...

Agreed! I actually bought The State on iTunes for my girlfriend and on my 360 for myself just to make sure that if they are tracking it, I'm in both ways.
