THE BOURNE [IDENTITY/SUPREMACY]: Collection 3DVD -7/24/07

Universal Home Video has sent over details on the Bourne Collection which includes the standard retail releases of The Bourne Identity, and The Bourne Supremacy. This new package will be available to own from the 24th July, and should set you back around $22.98. As well as the two films - the set will include a bonus disc. This will include a Who Was Robert Ludlum? documentary, a Ludlum Supremacy featurette, and a Ludlum Ultimatum featurette. Universal hasn't yet revealed the package artwork for this one - but we'll bring you that just as soon as they make it available to us. Stay tuned.

I traded off my copy of bourne identity because I figured this would happen, plus if it has movie cash I'm all for it.

Does this contain the theatrical cut or the directors cut of Identity?

The theatrical is the director's cut. If you read the back of the DVD carefully (the "explosive cut" I'm sure is what you mean) it says something to the effect of "This film has been modified from its original version. Special footage has been added without the consent or acknowledgement of the director." And, seeing as the old DVD has been out of print for some time, I would expect this disc will be the one included.

In other news, woot. I knew it was coming and I've been waiting for it. I too hope it includes MovieCash ala The Fast and the Furious DVD set.

Hopefully there will be a trilogy set in the near future... holding off for that one.

No reason to repurchase the films. Ludlum featurettes are nice but nothing that great. I'm very happy with the original Bourne Identity DVD (non explosive one lol) and Bourne Supremacy DVD. They are probably my most watched DVDs . . .

So which Bourne movie is the out of print one? The explosive version or the normal one? I've seen both in FYE recently.

Non-explosive Bourne Identity. I think it has DTS and stuff on it.

this would've been a good time to put back the DTS track on the first movie... oh well i guess they'll do it when they release the eventual trilogy set.

Was not aware of that. Thanks for the clarification!

Ditto (until the HD-DVD version comes out ;D )

IMO, it was ridiculous to drop the DTS track for the "Explosive" release.

Eh, I have the non-Explosive version of Identity, and I haven't picked up Supremacy yet.

I'll wait for Ultimatum to come out on DVD, and hope there will be a deluxe trilogy set of all three films before doing any double-dipping.

I've never seen these films, but have been meaning to. Should I look for the "Explosive" version or "non-explosive"? Can someone tell me the difference, without spoiling anything?

Well the "non-explosive" Identity has a commentary by Doug Liman. And DTS as mentioned above.

dvdrewind has the details on the differences:

If you want to get the first version of Identity, used ones are pretty cheap on Amazon and eBay.

DVDcompare says "This re-release is not an “Extended” cut of the film as the title may imply, but there is a new opening included as a bonus, and an extended version of the alternate ending on the previous DVD release."

Is that true, both cuts are the same? If true, I wish I had the older release, with the commentary track. Is there a difference at all in the transfer quality? Maybe the second release has a higher bit-rate since the DTS track (and the commentary) is gone.

Not even close. It's $14.99 at Best Buy, I believe, or $9.99 if you use a MasterCard. Plus you get the movie cash. Pretty much cheaper to buy than rent.

I guess you were citing the MSRP. If so, then that's what it should be called.
