The problem with Universal is that they don't really seem to think about their TV shows nearly hard enough. Anybody with some sense would have seen Amazing Stories and Night Gallery and just put the complete series out and been done with it. Sure, they would have been flippers or something along those lines, but why they would think they would make a lot of money off of short-running shows is beyond me. The 'one season tryout' method works for stuff that ran more than two to three seasons. For two or three, you might as well toss it all out on disc and then enjoy the silence.

I guess I don't see their logic.

Agree with you there. With Boomtown, we are left with teh 6 episode season nowhere to be found. Are tehy going to release a boset for 6 episodes? They could have added 1 disc to the season one box set, call it the complete series set and be done with it.

They didn't include season two with Boomtown because it was an abomination

What really chaps my ass is that season one of the Incredible Hulk was released the same day as Amazing Stories season one and next month Hulk seasons 3 and 4 will be available. If only there was an Amazing Stories movie this summer maybe we could get Universal to give us season two.

Been watching Season 2 on NetFlix... while it's still Amazing Stories, I wouldn't say Season 2 is nearly as good as Season 1. Perhaps Universal prepped Season for a DVD release, but then decided not to because it was afraid sales wouldn't pay for it. So maybe they just licensed it to NetFlix for a fraction of the cost.

Re: Amazing Stories: Season 2 (Any hope for this on dvd?)

it is May 2009 and still waiting

Amazon says it was discontinued by the manufacturer.

does that mean there were plans to release it but they canceled at the last minute?

Sure sounds like it. The Netflix version looks like they produced the content, but maybe based on sales of Season 1 they decided not to produce and distribute the DVD's, and just sell the rights to Netflix.

Late quote, but they'd done it for other series including Leave It To Beaver, the first few seasons of Dora and Blues Clues as well as a bunch of Disney shows. They also show current shows with the latest episode showing up within days of being aired.

They also do a lot of movies that aren't on DVD.

I'm just glad they still have this show available to stream all this time since I've just been recording them on my DVD recorder.

And you did a real good job in disguising the bootleg site once you realized your error. Good job as in you failed, unless you're some troll representing the bootleg site or have an ulterior motive to promote it. But you still failed. "dubya-dubya-dubya- dot"

I don't particularly care if you didn't like me calling you out on the bootleg link (you might want to read up on the rules before whining about it, though), but calling me an asshole is also against the rules. I was kind and let you off for the bootleg link. My bad...next time I will know better. Post reported.

Have a good day.

Mod note: And if you want to hand around you'll take some time to read up on the rules and decorum we expect around here. In particular, calling people names and trying to stir up problems is NOT TOLERATED. If you want to stay around and participate you are more than welcome too. If you insist on calling people assholes, I suggest you take it elsewhere on the I'net.

Rather than be helpful and post a link and explain that we dont allow bootleg talk here, some people feel the need to post little quips, or witty pictures. it is all very frustrating at times.

So after that previous war of words I guess there is no hope for an official release of Season 2. Damn!!!

Re: Amazing Stories: Season 2 (Any hope for this on dvd?)

Is it possible for Shout Factory to release this in the future or sign a petition to get this released on DVD?

I don't know if Universal has any deals with Shout to put their TV shows on DVD, but you should write to Shout and ask. And Google a petition for the show. If one hasn't been created that you can sign, create one and paste the link here and other places talking about the show!

Re: Amazing Stories: Season 2 (Any hope for this on dvd?)

I would support any legitimate method for getting the complete second season released on DVD! It truly is unfortunately that Universal has left this show's completion hanging for so long....
