fullscreen? Anybody that still buys fullscreen dvds wouldn't be interested in this movie anyway.

jmj713 03-10-07 07:14 PM

Is it me or does Rachel Weisz look like a man? They must've overphotoshopped her because she's very beautiful ordinarily.

Yes, the film is now utteraly unwatchable due to that cover.

You know they are saving that for the future Special Edition/Unrated version.

I can't wait for this to hit DVD

das Monkey 03-12-07 07:22 PM

It can't be said enough: that cover art sucks. What a waste.

I can't wait to have this. Easily the most compelling film I saw last year and a shame it was so dismissed just because some notable critics didn't understand it. I hope the documentary isn't just a crappy promo doc, because I'm very interested to see how they approached some of the effects.

I just saw the cover art! My retinas!! God aweful!

Chucky 03-13-07 08:57 AM

Man, I have never hoped more for some store to have an exclusive (better) cover, maybe even a steelbook? I really don't want to have to look at that trash art every time I watch this film!

slop101 03-13-07 10:21 AM

Is that shot at the bottom of the cover even in the movie? Besides Jackman in that outfit, I don't remember anything like that - it looks more like something out of Apocalypto than Fountain.

das Monkey 03-13-07 02:38 PM

It reminds me of the idiotic Serenity llama cover.

Whew. Take a gander at the OP to see the vastly improved revised artwork. It's still not terrific, but it's much, much better.

Yeah, it is much, much better, but now every other post doesn't make sense. ;)

kms_md 04-03-07 02:37 PM

while i still would have preferred the one sheet art shown above in the thread (unless that mysteriously changes as well :) ), the newer art is much improved.

Or maybe they understood it just fine, and still didn't like it.

redrum 04-04-07 12:00 AM

thank god it got revised cover art.

just watched this recently. beautiful movie.

TheNightFlier 04-04-07 06:55 PM

Glad they decided to go with another cover. The last one was awful.

slop101 04-04-07 11:40 PM

The new cover is a lot better, but still a bit too photoshopish...

But, yeah, I'm getting it regardless - great movie that's sure to open itself up on multiple viewings.

AnonomusBob15 04-05-07 07:53 AM

Thank god they changed the cover since this is one of those movies i'll have to buy.

basaro 04-06-07 12:11 AM

I don't know what you're all looking at, but the current pic in the OP is gross. If there was another before that which was worse, yikes!
Having said that, I'm starting not to care about the art anymore, most of the releases are crap anyway. I've guess I'm getting used to not getting much. At least there are still a few nice new releases though, so it's not all bad.

Anyway, this is a Warner release who usually doesn't double dip. They usually get things right the first time on new releases. But there doesn't seem to be much for extras on this. Perhaps the reason and the long delay in releasing this was because they were trying to get some more extras together for this and there were complications. This doesn't seem like much compared to Pi and Requiem which had a similar extra and also deleted scenes and commentary.
Maybe Aronofsky refused to do a commentary after looking at the cover art! :D

LorenzoL 04-06-07 06:34 AM

The new revised cover is much better, not perfect but way better than the original one.

Jamezuva 04-06-07 11:51 PM

anything particular reason they are stopping HD-DVD combo discs? Too expensive to produce? High rate of defective discs??

slop101 05-08-07 11:11 PM

Whoa, IGN really did not like the video quality on the dvd.

Are there any other reviews out there that might refute this?

Maybe the HD-dvd isn't so dim.

Captain Freeze 05-08-07 11:50 PM

^damn, that makes me mad. You'd think that a film like this would just be screaming for great picture quality to accentuate the visuals...
