The 197-minute American Pie Revealed documentary.

You think I'm kidding, but I'm not. Easily one of the neatest documentaries created specifically for a DVD release and not only is it in-depth, but it's also a blast.

I agree with you probably one of my favorites as well. Another great one that was already mentioned was the Star wars Episode 1 documentary, it was better than the film itself.

I've always liked Michael Bays production diaries for Pearl Harbor and BB2. I just love watching things blowing up really!

I'm interested in this American Pie 3 hour documetnary. Which dvd do I have to buy?

It was packaged with American Wedding when it first came out on dvd, since its Universal I am guessing that it is out of print, but you can always check ebay for it.

It's an easy/cliche answer, but I simply have to go with the Appendices of the EE Lord of the Rings sets. I've never set that much time aside to watch "making-of's" before, and I doubt I ever will again. They were beautifully presented, they showed EVERYTHING, and they made it seem that each movie was always a saber's edge away from utter disaster (especially when it came to Peter's mad-dash of editing near the end each time). The Appendices have made every other "making of" seem trite and insignificant to me.

the documentary in the X-MEn 1.5 DVD is pretty good and takes you through all the process of making the movie.

I think there's one similar on the X2 DVD

Far and away my favorite "Making of..." extras are the ones included with Black Hawk Down. Riveting stuff.

The third disc of the Cleopatra set has a great doco.

I was really impressed with The Hills Have Eyes behind the scenes footage

I've got to go for "Hearts Of Darkness" as well. Not only was it shot during the film, making it "fly-on-the-wall", it shows the frustration and honesty in the shoot as well as the candid moments, and pretty much covers every single moment of the shoot.

My other favorite documentaries include "Fear Of The Unknown" documentary on Alien from the Quadrilogy disc, the 1986 Fly documentary (a large amount of unseen footage on that one) and Saving Private Ryan's "Into The Breach".
