Added a few more.

Monthly bump to see if anyone has any more to add.

Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier - "Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse" documentary is not included.

That one doesn't count. |
Why not?
|
This Thread is for Features that have not been ported over from one DVD to another.
Example: There are two DVD releases for The Sixth Sense. The single disc version has Features that were not ported over to the two disc version. That means to have EVERYTHING Sixth Sense related, one would have to have BOTH versions. Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse has never been released on DVD. Not on it's own, not as a Feature on the previous two Apocalypse Now releases and not on the Complete Dossier. Therefore, it doesn't qualify for inclusion on the list. Should it be out? YES! But sadly, it isn't. |
Trevor,
I believe the Great Escape SE does indeed have the "Return To The Great Escape" Feature. |

There have been a bunch of double dips lately. Taxi Driver, Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Invasion of the Body Snatchers,...
Anyone have any info on features not carried over? |
Trevor, check out this post, regarding Taxi Driver.

Not sure if this would be the right thread to post this in, but it is about double dips, so if there is a better place please point me in the right direction. I want to buy Leon: The Professional, but I noticed there are three different versions, the standard release, the "Uncut International Version", and the deluxe edition. I was thinking about getting the deluxe edition, but just want to make sure I am getting the best version. Does the deluxe one include the uncut version of the film? Also, what kind of packaging is the deluxe on in? Thanks.

I always check dvdcompare.net before I buy a DVD that has multiple releases. Even if you are only interested in R1 DVDs, it contains the differences. |
Yep, what Numes said. But just to be thorough Imail724, here are the links to the full comparison of Leon at the two biggest comparison sites.
Leon at dvdcompare.net Leon at dvdbeaver.com Yes, the newer 2 disc set is the same cut as the international uncut version. |
OOP Atalntis Alliance Canadian dvd of Trainspotting contains :
- Featurette (featuring Interviews with Danny Boyle and Andrew MacDonald and intercut with 9 Deleted Scenes). The interviews that are intercut with the deleted scenes are neither on the laserdisc or on any of the other DVD's. - An insert that contains a printed glossary of terms (slang) used in the movie. |
Thanks Trevor and Numes.
|
any info about the features missing from the re-releases of MGM titles including Sure thing Valley Girl and Legally Blonde??
|
Updated w/ Trainspotting. Mainly just a bump to see if anyone else wants to add anything.
- Region 1 only - features changes only, not audio or video changes |

Yet another movie i love where, in their infinite wisdom, they decided to leave off the theatrical trailers in the 'upgraded' version... Wall Street :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: |
I just found this thread. Good timing because I was trying to pull some titles I have 2 versions of with hopes of getting rid of the older version. I know about DVDcompare, but they don't have everything. And a list of what's actually missing is easier to look at than trying to match up all the extras listed for 2 seperate releases.
If I'm not mistaken, "The China Syndrome" didn't carry over the trailer from the 1st release. Does anybody have info about Serenity, Face/Off, 40 Year Old Virgin or any of the Bond films (besides Die Another Day)? |
The Lions Gate Ultimate Edition of Basic Instinct does not carry over several features from Artisan's R-rated and unrated Special Editions, including the audio commentary by Feminist Critic Camille Paglia, a photo gallery, cast and crew biographies, production notes and a booklet.
Are we gonna go crazy and list Easter eggs that aren't carried over? |
"The Klumps: The Nutty Professor II" Unrated edition should probably be on the list, as well.

Thanks for the last few updates everyone!
I just organized my collection, and have a bunch of double dips to go thru. I imagine I'll have a bunch of updates for the first post then. |
this should be a sticky
|
Quick apology to lanemyer74: I included your updates back in November, but I just noticed that they weren't there in the first post. I wasn't ignoring you, I know I did them but the forum glitched when I clicked "save changes" or something.
Added them again, so the first post is updated with (I think) everything mentioned so far. |
