Hopefully they release an HD-DVD version. :fc:

This, Marie Antoinette, and Children of Men were easily my favorite films of the year and I'll definately be picking this up on release day!

Going from one of the best theatrical one-sheets in years to that...

*sigh*

animatedude 02-23-07 05:15 PM

That is (the artwork), in a word . . . awful.

I agree on the terrible cover art.

Unbelievable...I must agree! How come all the time there is someone with a gift for destroying poster art that gets hired??

Very strong film!!

I can understand them cutting down on all the actor names listed on the poster (Joshua Jackson, Ashton Kutcher, Nick Cannon, Emilio Estevez since he's also the director, etc.), but why take out Martin Sheen, Harry Belafonte or Christian Slater?

dcprules 02-24-07 05:01 PM

I wanted to see this theatrically but it got lost in the holiday shuffle for me. I do agree about the terrible DVD art. They really should have just kept the poster art which, while it lacked faces, was much better.

The DVD cover art is probably for all the weekend warriors at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Blockbuster who will pick this up on name-recognition (because the movie caught their attention by having an actor/actress they like on the cover)....

Rypro 525 02-24-07 11:55 PM

Aren't most of the big names on the cover mainly one or two scene cameos, not not really big parts? ( I know the movie was serverly critizized for this very reason)

critterdvd 02-25-07 01:19 AM

No they all had equally substancial parts (probably 12-15 minutes of screentime)

dpz301 02-25-07 12:33 PM

really wanted to see this in theatres, but missed it, so i will definitely pick it up. i agree with others though, i liked the movie poster alot better!

I may rent this one. Heard so-so things about it.

HistoryProf 04-20-07 04:29 PM

blame the Weinstein company, they have an exlusive rental deal (other places can rent them, they just have to buy them)

HistoryProf 04-21-07 04:08 PM

what an odd choice of films to market through blockbuster....a political film that will have zero appeal to the carbon blobs who populate their aisles.

Overpar 04-21-07 07:14 PM

I rented this from Blockbuster in widescreen and I didn't like it at all. I am a political liberal for the most part and I was expecting a movie about Bobby Kennedy. Unfortunately, the movie is about people at the party where he got shot. The star-power is seriously wasted in this film, in my opinion.
