Keeping track of DVD's
 

How do you guys keep a track of the dvds that you need to buy that are old or the newly released ones. I am looking for a way to keep track of what I need to buy on DVD or HD-DVD or Blu Ray disc. I know you ccan keep a list on imdb but it does not give you the option whether you want it on hd-dvd or blue ray, its just in dvd,cd, vhs etc.
I am just tired of going through various websites and keeping a list on excel and stuff. there has to be a simple way to do this.

I have read that thread. What I am looking for is something hwere I can create a wishlist and arrane it to different categories. For example. To buy, HD-DVD, Blu Ray, Different Genres etc. I want to have it in one place so that if there is a movie that is going to be reased I can search for it on that website and put it in my To Buy category. Does this make sense.

Doesn't DVD Aficionado do most of that?

i just keep a notebook and write down every movie i want. when i get it i cross it out,

DVSpot has a great wishlist feature.

the brain is actually the best way of doing this (the easiest to maintain and update). of course, that's out if you've got poor memory :)

I use both DVDSpot and DVD Aficionado. If I had to recommend one I would use DVDSpot because it is quick and easy as well as it helps you to keep track of your spending if that's something that interests you

i used to use dvd spot to keep track of what I wanted but I found it easier to use a notebook. Can keep in car when i go out, before go in store look in notebook and pick a few movies I want. remember them and go in store and buy.

I used to keep my "wish list" in a notebook, but now it's a text file on my computer. I haven't had a working database of what I own in quite a while, but when I finally get around to it, I'll probably be using FileMaker Pro. I'm not sure if it has any capability for a "wish list" but Delicious Library is fantastic for keeping track of what you own. If you're a Windows user, MediaMan is almost identical.

DVDPRO has a wishlist and you can download diffrent kinds of reports to print them out.

Online: DVDSpot
Offline: Movie Collector

Another plus about DVDSpot is that you can share that list online with anybody that you want. I got tired of always returning DVDs that family would buy that I didn't really want. Now I just point them to my DVDSpot Wishlist.
