Great movie, but seeing it once was enough for me.

If you're able, the Hong Kong import should be cheaper and a lot sooner.

The R3 is supposed to have DTS and out tomorrow. Anyone know of any store names in Boston's Chinatown district that might carry this? I'll be there this weekend.

i liked this, but not as much as yimou previous films, it was just too damn uneven...from chamber drama to martial arts epic. i'll probably get the cheaper import or wait for the r1 to go one sale

I usually favor Kneeland Electronics, but they're usually a little slow in getting new releases (and have some discs of dubious origin mixed in their racks). There's also a little shop directly around the corner on Tyler St., one of those that you have to walk downstairs to enter, but I forget the name.

Boston's Chinatown stores tend to stay away from the R3 discs. They usually
just stock the HK or mainland releases that will play here as well. As Josh mentioned
of Kneeland, in the past year or so the stores here have gone from selling mostly
legit releases to the scales tipping heavily in favor of non-legits
The place that sells aquarium fish (on Tyler) is the most reliable one left.

Looking forward to this but I wish there'd be a little more in the way of extra features, like a commentary.

I walked by there on my way home from work last night. The name of the shop is "Aqua World Aquarium". Wasn't able to stop in and see what they had.

There's also been a pretty funky smell in the store the last couple times I popped in. Don't know what that's about.

Gotta be a combination of the fishtanks and no ventilation. Going in there in the
summer can be brutal. Thankfully the new releases are near the door

The single disc Edko release is available at both Aqua World Aquarium ($18) and Kneeland St. Electronics.

After seeing this movie I can not help but call this movie Blessing of the Golden Cleavage.

I enjoyed the first half more than I did the second. It just fell apart for me at the end. Is there an uncut version floating around anywhere?

I went to Aqua World first on Saturday and picked it up there for $18. They had a nice selection of stuff and the owners were very nice. I was glad to give them my business. Kneeland on the other hand, did have many boots and the people working there were not very friendly and didn't seem to care if I wanted to buy something or not. Glad I didn't.

was the US theatrical version cut? IMDB (not usually 100% correct) lists the running time as:

Runtime:USA:114 min / Hong Kong:111 min

I have yet to watch this movie so this is a definite buy for me.

That cover with Gong Li's breasts is mesmerizing.

The set design and art direction in this film are superb. While the story might have plucked along for some, it kept me engrossed in a Shakespearean way; however, just being brought to the world created here was incredible. Assuming the HD transfer is what it should be, this will be a knock out title for Blu-ray fans. This is one of those movies that makes me cry, since I refuse to jump to HD until the war is over, because I can't wait until I can immerse myself in the beauty of the visuals on my HDTV.

It's even coming out on PSP. I didn't think PSP movies were still available.
