28 Days Later - Limited Edition - May 1st, 2007

In preparation for the new movie "28 Weeks Later" in theaters this May, a new edition of 28 Days Later is being released on DVD. I don't have the exact specs, but it'll have a preview of the new film, and an animated feature that bridges the storyline gap between the 1st and 2nd film.

Oh, and it has a free ticket to 28 Weeks Later

Cover Art is here:
http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...ys-later9.html

According to DVD Active, the disc will be available to own from the 1st May, and should retail at around $19.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will be identical to that of the current release, albeit with an exclusive sneak peek at the theatrical sequel 28 Weeks Later through behind-the-scenes footage, and an exclusive “28 Days Later: The Aftermath” animated featurette that bridges the storyline between the two films. As an added bonus for fans, the DVD will also include a Movie Money coupon good for one free admission.

I hope they play nice and include the animated bridge on the "28 Weeks Later" DVD for those that don't want to double-dip.

Danny Boyle isn't directing, which makes me a little cautious.

Are ANY of the original actors in it?

If there are no other exclusive extras, i'll be passing.

My god, what is UP with all the double-dips lately?!

Ditto.

The current version of 28 Days Later showed up in the OOP thread not long ago... So, I'm guessing this is just a "replacement" not so much a double-dip. Even though it is. Or something.

Same here. Also glad I waited, and will likely be picking up this one. Just hope the sequel carries more from the original than name recognition.

not interested in this since i just got my in the mail today.

i ordered it from DDD....and holy shit, this thing had like 3 barcode stickers directly on the case. it also had this savage little sticker magnet that ripped off a little piece of the plastic from the dvd case when i removed it. the case is ruined, good movie though.

Doesn't seem to be an upgrade over the original in the quality department .. p/q and audio. I'll skip this one. A couple of local shops around me have a ton of used copies of the original for around $5 .. there's no need to upgrade unless you're seriously into extras. ... not sure if they will be worth it either ..

So, this was just abandoned, wasn't it?

Unless, of course, something is planned as a tie-in with the DVD release of 28 Weeks Later.

Could be. Might release a double-pack or maybe a 3-disc SE...

They even released the artwork for this, but I guess in the end either decided to delay it or cancel it altogether. It was released in another region, though.

I think it came down with rage and slowly died due to lack of food.

It's out on R2 UK. Just saw it in a store here in Moscow, checked amazon.co.uk - and there it was.

It appears that 28 weeks later will have the animated short instead.

http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...eks-later.html

Guess I should just get the initial release for 28 days later instead of waiting for the limited edition which doesnt appear to be coming out.

Maybe a mod can change this thread title to something like "28 Days Later - Limited Edition (CANCELLED)"
