2001 Space Odyssey question

A friend loaned me this dvd (old Stanley Kubrick edition) which is not anamorphic.

Question is while the movie played fine, it seemed to freeze (as in having blank screen til I had to press the next button) just before the opening credits and again around the intermission. Did the same happen for anyone with this edition or the newer edition?

Was thinking about getting the new edition so am just checking. Thanks.

Was it from the white box collection?

No.

But, if you've gone this long without owning a copy then you might as well wait for the new SE that's due out this year, the current edition from the Kubrick collection re-issue is OOP.

It actually was the first time I have seen the movie. -eek-

Not sure if it was the white box. It was the older one. Don't think the new one is OOP.

Wowsers! First time? Neat.

I didn't say that it wasn't in stock or can't be found... :p But it is OOP.

I didn't have any problems with mine, the last time I played it. I believe it's the newer one.

I'm not a big 'the only way to see a film is at the theatre' kinda guy ... but this one of the films that should be seen on the big screen to really appreciate it.

Took my kids on an 90 minute drive to a theatre so they could do just that in beautiful 65m format.
