Was "A Bug's Life" ever released on DVD in anamorphic widescreen?

Yes. The Collector's Edition released in November 1999 is anamorphic, aspect ratio 2.40:1

DVD Empire has the 2-disc for $23. Amazon has it for $20

It also has the option of viewing the film in a computer cropped version. That is, the producers digitally moved things around to make them fit in a 4:3 view instead of just chopping off the sides. I used to watch it that way when I only had a 4:3 display.

UltimateDisney.com is showing that A Bug's Life: CE will have a temporary price drop on May 20. When they've had these drops in the past it's often available for about $12-13.

the region 2 UK edition also has a DTS soundmix (those averted to PAL speedup, forget it)

I remembe when the first CE was OOP, I looked high and low for it (for what seems like a year) I finally found it at a B&M and paid like $45 for it. A week later the new CE was announced and could be had for $19.99. I was pissed but now I'm glad I got it, the old Cover art is one of my favorites. :)
