Skipping during the credits

At one point, I'm sure we've all experienced a skipping DVD on used and NEW DVDs. Obviously, if it is easy to return, it really is no big deal to do it. But sometimes, circumstances such as eBay, getting gifts, and viewing the movie weeks (and sometimes years!) after the DVD can be returned make it extremely hard to do so.

My question is, would you return a movie that skipped during the credits if you knew returning it would be a tedious process? Obviously if it's easy, it's a no brainer. I'm talking about an ebay transaction or getting a receipt from a family member....etc

I personally would keep it, but I know some people are very anal about their DVD collections. What would you do??

I'd return it if I saw even the tiniest, most insignificant glitch.

Willh51 01-26-07 09:12 PM

Same, I'd return it.

Actually, in nine years I've never had a DVD skip. At all.

But if it did, I'd return it.

Probably not.

EdTheRipper 01-27-07 05:54 AM

If it was only during the credits, I'd just keep it.

I wouldn't want to return it, but my OCD when it comes to my collection would force me to. For instance, when I was little, I lost my GI Joe character Zartan's gun. I never played with him again because that missing gun always stuck in the back of my mind. Insanity, I know.

Considering that usually I don't even let the closing credits play out for subsequent viewings, I'd keep it.

Re-buy it and take back the bad disc and get a refund.

Let the distributor pay for the problem.

That's ridiculous. I turn off the movie once the credits start rolling anyway.

Depends if it started skipping over the gaffer, or the director's driver information. Some things one just needs to know.

Realistically, sometimes I let the credits roll especially if the score captures a particular mood that I'd like to be left with. Also, I do check out the credits for certain information on quite a few films. So, if it weren't obtainable navigationally - such as pausing and fast forwarding or some other way, then I'd absolutely return the DVD if it was one that I had to know about.

me too. do need to go back and look at PoTC 1 and 2 to watch the parts after the credits though.

Depends on how long you've had the movie. If the return/exchange time period from the retailer has expired, then you'll have no other alternative but to keep it. If not, I would exchange it, because it's a defect. Regardless of the price, any purchased merchandise should be in complete satisfaction to the customer.

nateman 01-27-07 08:37 PM

hell yea i would return it. if it doesn't work %100 than i want an exchange. over the last 6 years i have only had 1 dvd skip and that was kolchak: the night stalker set which other people have had problems with. i just exchanged it. if you buy it, it should work %100!
tedious or not i want my stuff to work rite.

you should not play scratched or damaged dvds. it is bad for the player.
