Suggestions on how to get smoke smell out of dvds???

I recently bought several dvds off Half.com from the same seller and all were in the condition described for great prices. The problem is the owner must smoke like a train. As soon as I opened the package, you could tell it and have no idea how to remedy this.

I thought about switching the cases but the outer insert & even the dvd smell strongly of smoke. I was afraid to put them in my dvd case for fear they might spread their stench to my other dvds. Any suggestions?

You could try boiling them.

switch the outer cases, and then let them sit in your non-smoking room with your collection for a few months. That's really the remedy that works. I've had this issue with a couple of online purchases, and the smell eventuallly went away.

Or, you can take some windex and spray the cases to clean them off. It works for me - I've even used it on CD cases.

Put them in new cases and stick them ouside, thats what I did, and after a couple of afternoons in the cool air, the smell was totally gone.

Stick them in a ziplock bag or a sealed container, cases and all, and put in either a charcoal briquette or a small container of baking soda. It might take a few days but it should draw the smell out.
