Is 'The Fox and the Hound' 25th edition available in Widescreen?

I got it for Christmas from my sister and i of course look to see if it's full screen or widescreen and lo and behold it's full frame!

so i was wondering if a widescreen version is even available or is the full frame version the one and only version of the movie? If so then i guess i can keep it and unwrap it!

Thanks

It is only available full frame, and their is debate on several disney titles of this era, as to what is the intended aspect ratio. The original disc was also full frame.

Well, there is only one version of the disc as far as I can tell. And after taking a quick peek on Amazon this is the first review I saw:

"I was a movie projectionist at the time and I had access to look at a 1988 re-release 35mm print of the movie and it was FULL FRAME! Yes, the movie is 1:33 to 1 , NOT WIDESCREEN!

You have to understand the thinking of 1980's Hollywood. Theaters were getting smaller, all movies ended up on television, and VHS & Beta home video tapes were becoming the popular way to watch movies. Therefore, many producers started filming their movies in the full frame television format, knowing that it is the way most people would see the film then."

I don't know if that's true, but the guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
