I'm no legal expert, but AFAIK the only thing she would have to be careful of is that the soundtrack to the film isn't playing in the background on the recording, as that would be considered copyright infringement. If she records her voice only, it will be okay. She would have to wear headphones to hear the film audio while commentating.

If you want the film audio in the background, you would just have to watch the movie on a computer and let it mix the commentary with the film, or listen on an MP3 player with the film audio coming through speakers.

There is nothing illegal about recording YOUR voice while talking about something no matter what it is and allowing others to listen to it.It's the same thing as doing a movie review only in audio form rather than typing it out.

As said, it is probably best to NOT have the DVD audio in the background and ONLY her voice just to be safe but of the commentaries I have heard I cant hear the movie soundtrack anyway.

I think in todays day and age too many are worried about being sued and probably because everyone sues! Movie companies love to sue and find what they can sue for no matter what.Same with music industry.I think they are just trying to get back for piracy ;)

She was probably using that as a polite way to decline. It sounds like she's more concerned
with her other reasons, that MGM won't like it and it will jeopardize any future involvement
between her and the company. They may see it as her being hostile after not getting her
way as to obtaining the rights/being involved in the project. While not illegal to record a fan
type commentary, once she does there's also nothing stopping the company from ignoring her.

Just saw Night Of The Comet for $9.72 at Wal-mart earlier today. No Solarbabies, though.

I'll just be happy with the DVD copy I burned from the VHS...

Watched most of it yesterday. It is the barest of bare bones but it's all there, original music and all.

It is funny to me that so many wanted this title above the rest and when it does come out they complain about it.

I got it simply to see the movie again after so many years and I am quite content with that.

Like I said I am happy about the release and the fact it's widescreen. But shitty packaging is shitty packaging. I'm not giving them credit for that especially when it's this bad.

Yeah, but at least we're going to have a nice cover to put it in...right?

I watched this on Monday. Was good fun to see the movie after so many years -- had seen it numerous times as a kid.

I was surprised to see Michael (Valley Girl) Bowen in a supporting role.
