Can't say I'm at all interested in the original mono track, radio spots, or stills galleries, so I'm definitely ready to get the new Phantasm discs...

... except Phantasm 2 is missing.

Didn't Universal own the rights to both Phantasm II and III? I wonder why Anchor Bay couldn't get both of them.

IIRC, Don Coscarelli owns 1 and 3 and 2 is Universal.

Definitely getting both releases after seeing the specs. Just when I thought I could start saving a little money...

Even though I own the original disc and the region 2 sphere collection I'll still get these because I still think no multi-region dvd beats a good NTSC transfer. And they look really sweet.

Same here. I can't get rid of my MGM disc because it is signed by Scrimm, Coscarelli and Bannister. I also have the signed Signature Series laserdisc and the R2 Sphere. But I will be buying this.

Got the R2 sphere, but will rebuy the original Phantasm if it looks/sounds better.

Where;s the best place to pick up the r2 sphere? I've seen it on amazon.uk, and someplace else, but it still seemed a bit high with shipping.

I sure hope the specs listed on ABs site are not final, since that means the original mono mix is not included then. If that is the case, do they make dvd cases that hold two dvds at all? I like the regular size cases that have a flap to fit two discs in one standard size case. They take up less room, and are more attractive than the large double dvd cases. Since I'd like to keep the MGM disc and the new disc together instead of having two different boxes hogging up shelf space.

Also someone said this is basically a port of the UK release of the film. And again if true, that means no original mono mix. 16.x9 upgrade was the only thing missing from the MGM disc, and it sucks if one simple thing(keeping the original audio mix) is ignored by the newer release.

It might be a slipcase over the regular DVD case.

Does anyone know if there are any differences in the special features between these new Phantasm 1 and 3 DVDs and the ones on the sphere set?....cause I've got the sphere, but I'm not sure what all the specs. are exactly on it.

Also, aside from the new doc. on Re-animator, are there any other major differences between the new Re-animator and The Millenium Edition that I already have?

Does anyone know how the dvd itself is packaged? And does the movie come with the original mono audio or not?

I saw this at Sam Goody today with the pen. The box seemed about the size of the Dawn of the Dead ultimate set. And since it's only a two disc set, I'm hoping a basic dvd case is included inside the box. Since it would look ugly and take up too much space on the shelf if the outer box 'is' the packaging.

I can't believe that they're putting all this effort into these releases and not coming out with hi-def versions.
