Just found out about this while looking at upcoming dvd art at the bits. Great news. I'm glad I never got around to pick up the first release.

I've had this on laserdisc and dvd for years and have never watched it. It's one of those "epics" you feel obligated to own...

I just unloaded the OOP disc last month for $40. Nice timing. :)

I'm not sure if I'll trade up. The last version was 2.35:1 anamorphic, 5.1 Dolby and included the Newsreel Shorts, photo montage, and Ben Kingsley Talks About Gandhi featurette. So the new stuff is:
  • The In Search of Gandhi featurette
  • The Reflections on Ben featurette
  • The Madeleine Slade: An Englishwoman Abroad featurette, and
  • The featurette on the recreation and filming of Gandhi's Funeral.

When I heard Ghandi was going OOP I rushed out to buy a copy. Sigh...

One of these days I'll learn my lesson: The only reason a movie like Ghandi would go OOP is if they are planning a new release.
