Are you getting the Narnia EE?

I own the single disc edition and I"m at odds whether to get the EE. I knew it was coming out which is why I chose the single disc in the first place.

I for one don't care about documentaries etc. So the extended cut is all I"m after. Is it worth the double dip? I guess the rebate deal for $10.00 back is nice as well.

I found this which details the extended footage.

Thoughts?

I will if I can find a good price. I liked the movie and think, with repeated viewings, it will get better and better.

Sabrett 12-06-06 05:55 PM

I'm getting the gift set for Christmas. I have the two disc, but as soon as this was announced, I knew I wanted to get it. If I wasn't getting it for Christmas, I would probably just buy it myself. Looks really quality and worth the money, IMO.

madara 12-06-06 06:35 PM

Is one when announced we all dreamed about another hour after they meet the lion but this EE ended up with like extra 5min battle sequence?

Anubis2005X 12-06-06 07:14 PM

No, cause this seems kinda like the extended version of King Kong (extended, but not enough to get me to double-dip)...

vcuram 12-06-06 07:29 PM

Never heard of it.

calhoun07 12-06-06 08:08 PM

I think I will pass. I am satisfied with the special edition I already own of it.

dpz301 12-06-06 08:40 PM

i'll probably pass too. haven't watched the version i already have.

Maxflier 12-06-06 08:57 PM

Still haven't even watched the first DVD yet, but I will pick up the EE.

dollfins1 12-06-06 09:08 PM

nope. happy with the original 2 discer. passed on kong extended too. will use the money i save to buy dvds i already don't have lol

Nth Power 12-07-06 12:20 AM

I would pick it up, but I have no more DVD money left after next week.

Novasonic 12-07-06 03:09 AM

What are the odds that the $10 rebate won't involve defacing the packaging in some way? If I have to rip up the box, then I won't be doing it. :(

***EDIT: Just read the review:
"Proofs-of-purchase from both the single- or two-disc version and the extend edition are required"
That really sucks. Guess I won't be sending in for the rebate.

roger_d 12-07-06 06:01 AM

That will be a no here. Cutting back here alot. I have the 2 disk and will stop doing these upgrades and double dipping. Buy it the first time if i like the movie and leave it at that.

starman9000 12-07-06 06:05 AM

Yes, but only because I don't have the first (I will be able to get the rebate though)

Otherwise I don't usually double dip. The only things I've double dipped on are:
the LOTR movies and Kingdom of Heaven. Both of them I bought the long versions first and then double dipped the theatrical cut only because they were very cheap.

toddly6666 12-07-06 07:46 AM

hell no, as noted in the DVD TALK Review, no dvd is worth double-dipping unless it's on the same quality level of a LORD OF THE RINGS extended cut. I

Brian Shannon 12-07-06 07:59 AM

No, happy with the EE

ianholm 12-07-06 08:45 AM

I'm curious about the extended cut. Still debating on whether to pick this up. I might rent it if Nextflix gets it.

I will get it. I have the single disc release. Held off buying the original 2 disc because I knew the EE was coming.

Snowmaker 12-07-06 09:04 AM

I never even got the first DVD. That movie was way over-rated.

Ginwen 12-07-06 09:26 AM

No. It sounds like it's mostly just more battle scenes and a reaction shot here and there, but not really more story (as opposed to the LOTR extended editions where they had parts of the story that were missing from the theatrical cut). I never get around to watching most extras anyway so that would be no reason for me to buy.

I didn't buy the first one since I knew an EE was coming out, and now that it's out it doesn't sound worth buying so I end up with neither one.

Blakklore 12-07-06 11:04 AM

I bought the EE as soon as it became available...............what a bloody rip-off. An extra 5 mins or so of a battle that deserved more. I should slap myself for wasting £25

ceeece 12-07-06 11:28 AM

I am. This movie is LOTR light for me and will be a welcome addition to my collection. However, I think what I might do from now on is pass on original releases for the eventual double dip. This set comes with 4 discs so there's more than just the extended movie, I'm thinking.

JediMindTricks 12-07-06 11:53 AM

i ordered yesterday from buy.com with $10 off from google checkout.

i did not buy the original release since i was going to wait for the EE. even if the EE doesn't have many more scenes, i'm still looking forward to watching the extras.

cisman 12-07-06 12:39 PM

Has anyone heard if they include the battle more in depth between the witch and aslan? I heard somewhere they do but the link I posted didn't mention it.
