It's about freakin time! Bring on Phoebe Cates!!!

:up::up:

Cool news...I'll get it.
finally!! Now MGM please release Zapped!
Phoebe Cates is terrific but it is was Betsy Russell bareback riding on a horse that I really remember.
Praying for the FULL cut of the movie, plus any extras that Universal can put together(commentary, documentaries on Phoebe Cates and/or Betsy Russell, anything). Agreed that Betsy Russell is the true reason to get this film.
somewhere there is a long thread on the history of this dvd release

I've been waiting for this release forever (after a few false starts). I hope it finally comes out this time. Extras would be great, but at this point I'd even settle for bare bones, as long as it actually shows up. |

Ah, the memories of HBO while growing up...
Glad to finally see this come to DVD. |
Good news, how about a "Pretty Smart" release too?

If I remember Phobe doesn't have a nude scene in this one, right?

I believe she just has a bit of rear nudity in this film.
Great news. I've been waiting for this one for what seems like forever. Hopefully this bodes well for other lost '80s gems coming to DVD at long last too. God, there are so many that I want. Where the hell are Zapped!...Meatballs II & III...Tag: The Assassination Game...Summer Camp Nightmare...Prime Risk...The Wild Life...Electric Dreams...Up the Creek...Howard the Duck? At least I'll finally get my hands on Joysticks soon.
There was a ballad in this movie toward the end that I remember being in love with when I was a teenager. I'll probably end up getting the movie just to hear that song again, cause i doubt they ever released a soundtrack for this movie.
There was a soundtrack album. All previous video versions have had some music changed due to licensing issues; hope they finally fix that this time.
I'd check it out.

Phoebe's best films for nudity are "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" where she took off her bikini top for Judge Reinhold in a masturbation fantasy and "Paradise" where she went full-frontal in one scene (though her love scenes with the guy from Eight is Enough were a body double). "Private School" belongs to Betsy Russell and her lovely big floppy breasts. Even though everyone remembers the horseback scene fondly, it's worth noting that early in the film, as she's getting out of the shower, her roommates pull her towel away and she does a very fast spin where you might see some full nudity from her, though it was kind of hard to tell on my old taped-from-cable copy. (And, believe me, I tried!) Should look much clearer on DVD. |
I believe 1983 was the last year we got those juicy teen sex explotation movies, because then came those John Hughes teen movies.
What... no love for the great Michael Zorek! (He was the guy hiding in the girls' shower...as well the man who released Betsy's Russells for the memorable horseback riding scene.)
I had to give him a shout-out, as he used to work in an LA record store with my best friend (and yes, he worked there before and after this film was theatrically released.) |
