Is there a release of Back to the Future without the sequels?

I only want the first movie. I'm not a big fan of the other two movies. Thanks.

In another region there is (Region 2 PAL) but I'm pretty sure there isn't for region 1.

You might be able to find separate releases for purchase at Blockbuster or other video stores--they often had them broken up in individual keepcases for renting purposes. Officially, in R1, there is only the 3-disc set (which is pretty cheap these days anyway).

Good marketing move on Universal's part- if you want 1 good movie, you gotta take 2 crappy ones as well.

dvd_luver 11-24-06 01:40 PM

You could probably get the 3-pack cheap someplace for about the same price as a single-edition of Back To The Future. You don't have to watch the other two! The 3-pack is the only edition available in R1, and well worth it even if your not a fan of the other 2 BTF movies.

Yeah the box set is pretty cheap, I'd say buy that and sell off the other 2 if you want. Actually I thought part 2 was pretty good

Part 2 is better than part 1 and I am probably in the minor that part 2 is better than part 1, funny, I did watch all 3 on cable TV this morning, I need to buy the boxset sometime since it is only $20 bucks

I agree, it was a great move. As someone who loves all 3 films, it's a fantastic deal. I never understood the hate for the 2nd and 3rd ones.

eedoon 11-24-06 03:50 PM

I think the third is a little bit off compared to the first two film, but I liked it and loved the first and the second. The set is relatively cheap, so just buy them and don't watch the second and the third.

GuruTwo 11-24-06 04:11 PM

It seems like what sequel you prefer depends on what you liked about the first film.

It's like 80% of Part II maintains the sci-fi/adventure elements of the first film whereas Part III maintains the character-driven story elements.

I used to prefer Part II by a wide margin but as I get older I appreciate Part III more and more.

rw2516 11-24-06 04:15 PM

It's not that II and III are bad. The first is so incredibly good that 90% of other movies suffer in comparison. Love the first. Really like the other two.

CertifiedTHX 11-24-06 04:28 PM

The first is a classic, and in my opinion, the most well-done of the batch. Part II has some great moments, and is entertaining overall, but a little too over-the-top, especially in 2015. Part III is the least interesting to me, but definitely has its charm, and is better made than Part II. But would love owning all three.

It's funny how they portray 2015. It's only 8 years away, when are we going to get a sky-way?

Dvdlovr24 11-25-06 08:25 AM

Screw the sky-way. I want a Hoverboard! :D

May not be that far out after all.

I used to like the original by far the most, but the past few years, 1 and 2 are about the same for me. The third one is pretty good, but by that point, the gig is getting a little old, and the Old West setting, doesn't exactly drive me crazy.

If you watch Mythbusters, they show how to build one out of a surfboard, some plastic, and five leafblower motors.

Part III has only one occasion of 'Oh man, this might/will affect the future!', and even then it's a very minor one. Marty and Doc don't really need to care about the timeline so much as saving their own hides.

Reason Part II is so much looked down on is the whole sequence in the alternate present time, which is just far too grim and dark for what is essentially supposed to be a family movie.

But yeah, the only way to get the first movie individually is in R2. They just re-released the trilogy *again*...this time without the fourth disc. WTF.

Yeah, and they better get cracking on some more Jaws movies.

Don't feel alone. I'm with you!

This thread is sacrilege
I’m going to go watch all 3 right now
For shame

Yeah that's what Moller said 15 years ago.

If the set was real expensive it might be a big deal, but it is on sale all the time and can often be found under $20. Just buy the whole set and ignore the other two disc if they aren't your cup of tea.

Personally I enjoyed all three, but two was my least favorite.

Thats exactly my feelings on it. Just because they are not as good as the first doesn't mean they are bad.
