Are Most People Pre-Ordering Ultimate Superman @ DDD?

I was thinking of ordering the superman boxset cuz that seems like a pretty good deal right now with the 20% off. TOtal would be around 56 bucks for the 14 disc set. But then got to thinking, what are the B&M stores going to be offereing for incentives? Has anybody pre-ordered it or are they waiting?

bboisvert 11-13-06 01:46 PM

You don't get 20% off preorders. Superman isn't (and won't be) part of the DDD sale.

Wildo1966 11-13-06 01:49 PM

Nope, I am waiting until the B&M stores show it in their flyers, who knows, maybe there will be some store exclusives! Never again am I jumping the gun too early on a pre-order...

cinephan 11-13-06 02:15 PM

Amazon's got the same price and the serial collection is cheaper there, so I'm ordering both from Amazon. I doubt any B&M's will have it cheaper than the net. At least none in my town.

RobCA 11-13-06 03:34 PM

I'm hoping Costco or Sam's Club will have it at a really good price.

I myself expect to see this set for around $50 from the 3 major stores I report on.

Costco may beat that $50 tag as well.

jmj713 11-13-06 04:45 PM

I myself preordered the set at Amazon on the last day the A9 discount was working. So I have it for just over $68 bucks, plus just got offered Amazon Prime free for a month, so upgraded my shipping as well :) Sixty-eight bucks will do.

I think I'll wait to see what you post before I pre-order online. It would definitely be worth holding off plus I can have my instant gratification :)

Liquid Death 11-13-06 06:27 PM

A 14 disc set at 50% off MSRP on release date? Sounds too good to be true, but I'll cancel my Amazon preorder in a heartbeat if it turns into reality :)

$50 when there's also going to be an 8 disc set coming out the same day? Not likely. There's just no reason to hit that low of a price point with it.

SIUmark 11-13-06 10:04 PM

I am hoping for a good deal at one of the B&Ms. Otherwise, I will order online.

hindolio 11-13-06 11:46 PM

retail exclusive (hopefully) for me, cuz im silly like that.

TexasDVDer 11-14-06 10:01 AM

If DDD allowed 20% preorders I thnk most folks would have ordered it. Amazon at $69.99 is beat slightly by DDD but Amazon seems to send these these things out by priority mail even when free shipping is selected. A local retailer would have to be under $64 or so for me to beat the sales tax add-on.

What the fuck else could they add???

bohemian1 11-14-06 11:25 AM

I will buy it if the price becomes around $40.

The Superman musical It's a bird It's a Plane It's Superman.

kms_md 11-14-06 03:26 PM

i preordered from amazon. if a better deal comes out in the B&Ms i will cancel that order.

manicsounds 11-14-06 04:37 PM

Or some possible deal of buying Superman Collection and Superman Returns together for a lower price

Oh wait, Superman Returns is included in the set.... my mistake.

KMKTEXAN 11-14-06 04:46 PM

Will buy through CH.com. 40% off SRP with free shipping. Will use $20 Funcash. Total = $39.95.

Cant you can only get free shipping if you order 2 More titles? please post if you can because this is the way I'd go too.

bahgee 11-14-06 09:56 PM

AFAIK free shipping does not apply to sets and funcash purchases. So w/ $20 funcash, tax, and shipping the total is about $50.

The Monkees 11-14-06 11:32 PM

I'll just hold off until release day and see where it's the cheapest

Harold Wazzu 11-15-06 08:08 AM

They could always add a poster, or lobby cards, or some extra disc for Superman Returns, or a Superman figure...who knows with those marketing people.

I am waiting until Speedy posts this weekend in the Bargain section to make a decision.

I was referring to the CH club. It is different from the regular Columbia House club (no Director's selection). Everything is at least 40% off with free shipping. Even Funcash orders are shipped free.

I can't seem to find the tin version on Amazon.com. :(

Fok 11-20-06 12:30 AM

Hopefully they have it here in Canada, we seem to be behind on releases

RocShemp 11-20-06 07:30 PM

So is there a different version of the box set or do they all feature the tin? I ask because it's not pictured here: http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/B000J10...348951-9572735

chris_sc77 11-20-06 08:49 PM

I believe that the box that is shown fits inside of the tin box itself.

Rammsteinfan 11-20-06 09:32 PM

Looks like $69.99 at most stores. Gonna get it at BB personally to get double points for reward zone and use certificates. Wish it was a little cheaper but i guess $70 for 14 discs isnt too shabby.

animefan 11-20-06 09:33 PM

Is this Tin box set Limited? I have enough DVDs that I haven't even opened yet that I am willing to wait and purchase this for the Next DDD sale. But if this is Limited Edition, I might just have to buy it now.

ds6161 11-21-06 12:32 AM

Rammsteinfan..
even double points is not worth it.. no tax at Amazon saves me $5.25..

now if you have to use you're reward coupons thats diferent....

If this is so, and no offense, but why are BB and CC prices now listed as $69.99??? Was your info wrong???
which 3 stores might you be talking about??? $70.00 vs $ 50.00 is a little bit of a difference-

Did you not bother to look at when he posted that comment and when he was able to post the weekly circulars?
