Some really good lists so far. With a little over a day to go, i'm figuring around 30-40 lists will be here, i'd love to see 50 or more. I'm actually surprised that no one has just put up one of the James Bond collections yet. I figure some people are afraid to dedicate soo much towards one set. Also people can change their lists at any time before Tuesday night, so if something catches your eye that comes out tuesday feel free to change it.

I will tailor the prize towards the winner so that they won't be getting doubles.
Greetings from last year's contest.
I didn't realize I did not post the prizes received upon winning the last contest... I must have only thanked you by email. Here is a list of last years prizes:

Polar Express Gift Set
Halloween 4 LE tin
Halloween 5 LE tin

I was very impressed by the generosity of Kocheese99 considering what little investment it took for me to post a list of titles in his contest thread. I was very surprised to receive not one, not two, but THREE dvds! I would have been appreciative of anything, even a single bargain bin dvd, but he really went beyond with those three LEs.

Good luck to everyone and thanks again Kocheese99!

PS - I appreciate the invite to post another list this year but since I've already won once, I will politely decline. I will definitely vote once the finalists have been selected.

Thanks, Cameron.
Changed things around some as I added some in my first go that I missed in Kocheese's list. In place of 12 Monkeys we get the classic comedy This Is Spinal Tap. In place of OUATITW we get the action hit The Fugative and, finally, thought I'd flip Creepshow with the far superior Rosemary's Baby after pecking around the cheaper titles.
Hope you approve of this one as well.

actually i was going to take spinal tap but it put me over. Rosemary's Baby for Creepshow I am neutral as they are both great titles, but I have to disapprove of removing OUATITW for The Fugitive. Its a good movie, but not on par with a Sergio Masterpiece...plus the actual dvd is far superior in content

So does Kocheese HAVE to go with the majority vote winner, or does he (she?) still have the right to pick whatever they want from the various submitted lists?

well, i thought i'd throw in my two cents here. or rather, my 49.04. this is my first post after visiting this site daily for about a year now. so hello to all. Kocheese99, this is a really cool idea. everyone here can get some good ideas of some good titles. So here's my suggestions, hope you like...

Network (20.40)
Before Sunrise (9.89)
Interview with a Vampire (14.39)
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (9.44)
Waking Life (7.18)

add the 20% discount and total is...
49.04

TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE (SE) $ 16.32
THE WILD BUNCH (SE/2D) $ 10.16
SERGEANT YORK $ 15.80
QUICK CHANGE $ 7.18

TOTAL: $49.86

These are gonna look great with the rest of your collection. Quick Change is hilarious, Treaure of Sierra Madre is a classic and not to be missed. The Wild Bunch has to be my favorite of Pekinpah's films (Junior Bonner & Ballad of Cable Hogue tie for 2nd place) and Sergeant York is a "feel good" war hero movie with a twist. Even if you don't choose my picks you gotta check these out and I hope you like 'em!

Thanks!

ACTION-COMPLETE SERIES $ 15.59
O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU $ 11.13
THE LADY IN WHITE $ 6.91
UNCOMMON VALOR $ 4.82
VERTIGO $ 11.28

Shipping: FREE
Your Total: $49.73

I tried covering a few different genres....Comedy, Horror, thriller, action/war and TV. Looked at your collection to see how things paired and I think I covered you well.

Lady in White (1988)
This was an "out of nowhere" hit in the late 80s made by an independant writer. Lucas Haas stars as a boy locked in a closet at school on Halloween who sees an image of a ghost when she was killed. He is then haunted by the ghost who seems to be trying to find the killer. This is horror/suspense at its best, in my opinion. No gore, just edge of your seat kind of stuff. One of my favorite movies.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
You seem to like the Coen Brothers type comedies. This may be the best. I saw it because I had to and I loved it. Never thought I would like it. Smartly done.

Vertigo (1958)

Hitchcock, Kim Novak, and Jimmy Stewart....wow. I am not much to sit and watch old movies but thsi movie is pure brilliance. Probably my favorite "old" movie and defiantely my favorite Hitchcock. And Kim Novak is simply stunning. The more you learn about the background of the movie (hitchcock, etc) the better it gets.

Uncommon Valor (1983)
The other side of war movies. Takes place after Vietnam and deals with the POWs and a group of former soldiers who decide to go back to save one of their own. Gene Hackman stars in this and this movie was probably the first or 2nd movie (Superman) that sealed the deal for me as a Hackman fan. I was only 10 when it came out though.

Action!: The Complete Series (1999)
Just one of those TV shows that never caught on. Its a 5 star rated show on Amazon. Beyond Jay Mohr, the rest of this cast wa superb. Probably the crudest, most honest comedy network TV had seen at that point. Many people say if it was an HBO show it might still be on.

I think he HAS to go with the majority winner for the contest.

Obviously, he can take any list and buy whatever he wants, which I am sure he does...as do I, and plenty of other good people. Definately a good source for recommendations.

I have Network already, it's in the Controversial Classics V:2 box set. You can pick something else if you want.

I will be picking up all of the titles the winner chose for me. No excuses, no exceptions. The only power i have is that i get to pick 10 lists and that if it comes down to a tie, i get the deciding vote.

About 3 hours to go, so if you have any more changes you want to make now is the time to make them.

Now's the time to put in a last minute list, shouldn't take too long to put in a list and believe me the prize this year is DEFINATELY worth doing it.
