Hitchcock Help.

I was wondering if someone that knows a little more than me could help me out with a potential purchase. I bought "The Best of Alfred Hitchcock Collection Vol. 2" a while back and now I noticed that there is the "Alfred Hitchcock - The Masterpiece Collection" which appears to be the same set of movies in my collection in addition to the movies from the "Best of Alfred Hitchcock Collection Vol. 1" . Am I right to assume that this is exactly those two sets combined or are the DVDs different transfers? I would like to buy the other set and have all of the movies together but not if I am missing out on any features or any video or audio quality. For a potentially redundant example, this version of Vertigo is the one in my collection. Is that the same transfer and features that I would find in the newer collection? I hope my question makes sense and I thank anyone in advance who read all of this and can give me some guidance.

I don't remember for certain about whether they're the same transfers and whatnot. I do know that I sold each individual title (from Best of vol 1 and 2) to digitaleyes and the credit bought me the masterpiece collection. I prefer the look of the new box. Velvet!

New transfers - and in some cases i.e. Vertigo, Psycho and what was the other? Torn Curtain? - ANAMORPHIC transfers. There's been MUCH debate over the quality of the new transfers but the anamorphic enhancement for Vertigo and Psycho makes the Masterpiece set a must own. I kept all of the old releases and picked up the Masterpiece Collection as well.

<--- Hates the velvet box and cases in the Masterpiece set. Kept the old covers, inserts and discs, switched everything over to double amarays with the new discs.

edit: Here's the original, LONG, thread on the Masterpiece Collection > http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=424801
