Okay, Once and For All--Is THE NIGHT FLIER Widescreen?

I've seen multiple online reviews for Stephen King's THE NIGHT FLIER, some of which say it is only full screen 1.33:1 and others that say it is anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1. The back of the DVD's packaging is the most perplexing I've ever seen; it makes no reference whatsoever to its presentational format. Furthermore, DVDSpot lists only one Region 1 release of the title (which, incidentally, states it is anamorphic widescreen), so there doesn't appear to be one of each format. Can any and all readers of this thread that own this DVD tell me definitively if it is widescreen or not, and the approximate dates you each purchased your copy on (this will help me determine, if there are answers both ways, if New Line did a quiet upgrade from full screen to widescreen along the way without changing the packaging)? Much appreciation in advance...

1.85:1 Anamorphic according to IMDB and DVD Empire

Thanks, starecase, but I'm tired of online sites, due to their inconsistency on this issue--I would prefer direct feedback from actual owners of the DVD.

I just checked (I own it) its widescreen.

...and the most important thing...it's ANAMORPHIC!

Thanks, I have been curious about this too.
It's $5.52 at DDD, so I'm going to wait until the 20%off sale, and get it then with The Mangler for the same price. Filling up the gaps in the King collection.

Thanks, guys--I've passed it up for years because I believed it to be full screen, but now I've seen it for $4.88 at both Wal-Mart and Sam's, so I think it's time, as basaro says, to fill a gap in my King collection.

This is an HBO DVD and I noticed on another one I own (Tales From The Hood) there is no mention of screen ratio on the packaging or on the disc. My copy for Night Flier is anamorphic widescreen but I don't have a case for it.

It is a direct-to-video movie though (the credits were done on video instead of film.)

Does the Tales From The Hood DVD have the commentary that's on the laserdisc?

I went ahead and bought it, but left it at work; when I get it home, you guys better be right or no candy for Halloween...

Nope, no commentary just a featurette, trailer and TV promos.
