Criterion needs to take a clue and drop their prices like all of the other studios are doing. They put out the best releases and the best films, but the are just so damn expensive. At the very least drop the price on some of the older titles with hardly any special features.

The Killer (white ring) for $15 shipped from an Ebay auction several years ago. The seller had posted it wrong so it didn't come up under a dvd search.

Just two weeks ago, at a charity flea market, I picked up the following sealed Criterions:

TUNES OF GLORY
RULES OF THE GAME
DIARY OF A COUNTRY PRIEST
IKIRU

Tunes was $5, the other 3 were $10 each.

Also picked p (sealed) the forthcoming 2-disc Kino release of Anna Karenina, Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and Clean for $5 each.

It was a good DVD day!

I too don't own many CC:

The Rock (price match to a mediaplay ad that was mispriced, I think it was $6.99)
SOLT ($9.99 used at blockbuster)
Royal Tenenbaums ($2 at a yardsale)
Chasing Amy ($14.99 at best buy)

I thought i'd found a good deal on Armageddon on half.com (like $5), but when it arrived, the center of disc one was broken (the actual surfaces were near perfect). The seller was nice and gave me a refund (even my return shipping).

Hitchcock set, a year after OOP, mispriced for $59.99 (I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be $159.99) from Best Buy.

Other than that, $7.50 for literally unrented, complete sets of:

The Harder They Come (after OOP)
How To Get Ahead In Advertising (after OOP)
Andrei Rublev
Variety Lights
I Know Where I'm Going!
Sullivan's Travels
The Horse's Mouth
Naked Kiss
Shock Corridor
Seventh Seal
Stray Dog

I picked up Salo for $24.99 two years ago on eBay. I think it was so cheap because Criterion misprinted the cover, they spelled the title with 2 "L's"

a local book store prices all their dvds the same, single disc movies go for a certain price and 2-disc dvds go for a certain price also. 2-discs are usually around 10-12 dollars, some are even lower.

ive picked up Armageddon for 7.50, The Rock for 7.50, and Naked Lunch for 10.00 flat.
theyve also had Le Circle Rougue(sp?) on their shelves for 12.50 for quite some time.
