My patience is at an end. I don't understand what the problem is. Only the old, what, 1997 barebones DVD? What gives? Whom do I call to slap (punch, kick, elbow) some sense into?

Death Becomes Her

The current release is fullscreen, and I've been waiting for years to finally see the deleted scenes with Tracey Ullman, including the original ending...

But it's not 16x9. This year is the 10th anniversary of the film. I was hoping that we would get a new edition since the "special edition" is from 1998.

I agree with the people who said Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Caddyshack.

I'd also like to add:

Big (I know a SE was rumored)
Parenthood
Funny Farm
Midnight Run
Rudy
Stand By Me
Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Weird Science

I know both Rudy and Stand By Me have "Deluxe Editions", but the only thing extra that is really included, over the other releases, is the soundtrack. I'd like a retrospective and hope there is some more behind-the-scenes footage for Stand By Me. Maybe that's just wishful thinking.

And, in general, I'd be happy if some of Steve Martin's and John Candy's movies would receive better DVD treatment.

I would love to see an SE for Annie Hall, which began as a 3 hour murder mystery and somehow got edited down into an Oscar winner.

Kinda surprised nobody has mentioned michael Mann's THE INSIDER.
I have been dying for a special edition of that film....
I would really love a Criterion of that film and think that it would be the perfect choice for a Criterion film...

Also i would really love specail Editions of
(just about every Martin Brest film....)
*Scent of A Woman
*Meet Joe Black (even though the current release has a promo. featurette and the ultimate edition includes Death Takes a Holiday)
*Midnight Run
*Gigli (I know I'm gonna get hell for this one but I like alot of this movie and would love to see a director's cut including the alternate 3rd act which has Affleck getting killed by Pacino...)

*A life Less Ordinary
*Hook
*eXistenZ
*The Ring
*A Simple Plan
*Lost In Translation
*The Fisher King
*High Fidelity
*Multiple Spike Lee Movies including: Jungle Fever, Clockers, Summer of Sam, He Got Game, etc....
*21 Grams (the new edition doesn't count)
*The Killer
*Hard Boiled
*Fistful of Dollars
*For A Few Dollars More
*Fistful of Dynamite
*Mulholland Dr.
*Dogville
*True Lies
*Strange Days
*Miller's Crossing

Private Parts!

Paramount is supposedly going to put out a 10th Anniversary Edition and has asked Howard to get involved. Hopefully he does and we finally get a long-overdue special edition complete with multiple commentaries and the whole shebang.

I'll second that! Also, I'd add Lost Highway... Region 1 doesn't have a widescreen on dvd.

I'll try not to repeat the above, but I agree with many, including They Live, most of the Paramounts (no, instead of an SE we get a lame new photoshopped cover for Chinatown), The Insider, and The Graduate.

Looking at my DVDaf:
- BASEketball (Trey and Matt mentioned an Actor's Cut a few years ago, but I see nothing yet...)
- Battle Royale (just cough up the dough already...eventually, they'll license)
- A legitimate SE of The Big Lebowski (what a let-down)
- The Cable Guy (I love this movie)
- Darkman Director's Cut (Campbell's book mentions tons of lost footage, plus you could include a commentary and most fun of all, the horrendous TV pilot!)
- Ghost World (commentary!)
- A Goofy Movie (OAR)
- Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (the HA1 disc was good enough to make this worth making, even if the film is a lame rehash)
- How to Get Ahead in Advertising (Criterion, buy it back and do it right)
- A legitimate SE of The Jerk (their SE disc is the WORST SE DVD I have EVER SEEN).
- A Life Less Ordinary (unfairly lambasted, great little flick, deserves much better)
- magnolia (new single-disc with some commentaries)
- Me and You and Everyone We Know (Sony promised the director an SE, but now that the film is, I think, at Fox, who knows)
- Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie
- Upgrade of The Naked Gun DVDs to match the great Airplane SE they did last year -- get Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy to talk about the films and definitely pack in those deleted scenes from television
- The Nutty Professor (1996) (The 10th Anniversary comes and goes and we get a flipper with the sequel? I don't think so)
- Office Space (If at first you don't succeed...Milton shorts, commentary...more. Not. Good. Enough.)
- Punch-Drunk Love (same as magnolia)
- Shaft (2000) (Sam Jackson and John Singleton audio commentary)
- Twins (everyone says Kindergarten Cop...should just be a triple feature of Reitman/Schwarzenegger SEs, even if Junior does suck)
- Wasabi (gimme the features from R4)

And lastly, why no "Fierce Creatures" DVD to co-incide with the Wanda SE? It may not have been great but it was fun. Should have gotten an OAR with deleted scenes and the trailer, at least.

Multiple people have mentioned eXistenZ: there is a Canadian R1 SE released by Alliance Atlantis that is loaded with multiple commentary tracks and a documentary on Carol Spier - you can play it on any US DVD player and purchase it from multiple online retailers for a very reasonable price.

Has it been 10 years? I would probably buy it since I used to listen to him back then for the full radio program every day and it was one of the first 20 or so Dvd's I bought. I know back when the Dvd came out he said he went Paramount and wanted to S.E. but they wouldnt do it.

About AoD -- what we need is not another SE but a definitive SE that gets the framing right and includes all the extra features.
