Simpsons Season 9 - 12/19

TV Shows on DVD link

Sweet! This will pretty much "complete" my collection of The Simpsons on DVD. Can't wait to see the New York episode in all its glory.

Final season for me as well. It's where "The Simpsons" stops being itself and moves into being some other show. Still, 9 seasons is pretty damn impressive.

I think the end of Season 8 was when I stopped watching these as they originally aired. Looking forward to this release.

Cool, just in time for Christmas! I'm glad it's coming out so soon after Season 8. I'm stopping after Season 10, BTW. Just one more after this one!

I never watched the Simpsons on TV. Well regularly. And mostly in reruns at that, so I never know what episodes are from what season. I'm buying them all, cause I love the characters.

I'll be getting this set. It has one of my favorite bits: "The Canyonero commercial"
Can you name the car with four-wheel-drive?
Smells like a steak and seats thirty-five!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Well, it goes real slow with the hammer down.
It's a country-fried truck endorsed by a clown.
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Twelve yards long and two lanes wide,
sixty-five tons of American pride!
Canyonero! Canyonero!
Top of the line in utility sports!
Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts.
Canyonero! Canyonero!
She blinds everybody with her super-high beam.
She a squirrel-squishin', deer-smackin' drivin' machine!
Canyonero! Canyonero!

Why is it coming so soon? I thought it was twice a year.

I've been as concerned about The City of New York vs. Homer Simpsons about as much as I care about these things. I don't think that episode has been rerun in syndication in the last five years. I can't imagine that they could take out all of the WTC stuff since it's such a big part of the episode. This is be a 100 percent deal breaker for me if the episode is edited or something.

The New York episode has been playing in Chicago-area syndication for the past couple of years, with references to the Towers intact. According to the Wikipedia article on the episode, it's been re-added to most places in the US that originally took it out. I'm pretty confident it will be on the DVD.

This is GREAT news. I love that the Simpsons dvd seasons are picking up the pace. Two or three seasons per year is ideal.

I'm so relieved to hear that the final good season of The Simpsons is being released on DVD before the end of the year. Since I now have to wait until at least 2007 to finish my Seinfeld collection, it's comforting to know I'll be able to wrap up 2006 with one last Simpsons boxset.

What makes people think that there was some drastic shift in quality between seasons 9 and 10? The show has been consistantly good for 17 years...

I've been saving this one onymy DVR for over a year "just in case". It will be nice to finally retire that. Hopefully when they get to the boy band episode where LT Smash fires missiles ont he city that will be intact too.
