I Dream of Jeannie S1 - Do I get colorised or B&W

I don't know if this has been discussed before in great detail, but I am deciding on weather to get the colorised version or B&W version. I have heard the colorisation is good. But what I want to know is there any difference in content between the both versions. Are both colorised and B&W versions uncut?

Colorization is as evil as pan-and-scan. Get the original black and white.

Go with colorized. They did a good job and it will match with the later seasons.

So Can I presume they are both uncut then, not syndicated versions? I am considering going for the color version, since I hear it is a good job

Personally, I would choose the one that showed how they originally aired, but if that is the only difference and you want the color versions, then go for it.

Good question. If they are both the same, I'd go with the colorized. If the colorized versions were syndicated and the B&W were not (which I seriously doubt), I'd go with the uncut versions.

I believe the B&W were never syndicated. Same with Bewitched and the pilots of Get Smart and Hogans Heroes. When Jeannie and Bewitched first appeared on Nick-At-Nite in the early/mid 90s all they had were the B&W eps. while TBS and local stations only aired the color seasons. This leads me to believe that the B&W were not part the syndication package and syndicated seperately to Nick-At-Nite.

Normally I would say go with original B&W, but on a lark I bought the color version of Bewitched Seasion 1 and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the colorization.

If I remember correctly, that was one of the things that the ads emphasized when Nick-at-Nite first started airing the B&W episodes. "Not seen since their original run" or something to that effect.

I seem to remember reading that the colors were way off compared to what was really worn at the time.

Say she had an orange dress on (as seen in still shots from the era) but they colorized her dressed green, etc.

Do you want that kind of blood on your hands?

I remember specifically watching syndicated runs of both Bewitched and Jeannie on a local channel in Michigan in the 70's. Both were aired with the original B&W versions.

Given that I saw them, I don't believe Nick is really the first to re-air them in B&W......

I know I've seen Bewitched in B&W and I think I've seen Jeannie.

As for the colors being off for what was really worn at the time, that's kind of silly. I'd want them to match what the costumes looked like when they switched to color, not what colors they used to get the B&W looking good.

I remember the same thing. This was prior to getting cable in the mid-80s.

If you get the colorized version and don't like it, you can always turn down the color on your TV.

That's what I weas gonna say. You can do that as an alternative when you wanna watch it in B&W. Just turn down the color on the TV.

Not at ALL the same thing.

Like Bewitched, both are identical episodes. Only the color is different. So pick your preference. As far as this:

A local TV station here (KNOE-TV) aired several black and white episodes in the afternoons in the late 1970's, using rather "worn" 16mm film copies. I remember it well.
