Disney Changes Platinum Line-Up

Thought this would have been posted already, but I got this off the UltimateDisney Forum:

Hi all
i got the Little Mermaid DVD this week and i have some great news to share after viewing it - Peter Pan is getting an all new 2 disc dvd soon (March 2007)
And The Jungle Book Platinum DVD on October '07.

They are promoting it in the new "THE LITTLE MERMAID" DVD

Which I guess means they've moved 101 DALMATIANS to Spring 08.

Chech it out here, with screen caps of the DVD, +trailers, etc.

What happened to the Spring `07 title?

Are they stopping the spring releases?

I have the 1-disc Peter Pan Special Edition and quite happy with it, not going to double-dip for the 2-disc.

Beautiful. It definitely needs a new transfer - and looks to be getting a fantastic one by those screencaps.

The new line-up UD forum is suggesting is:

The Little Mermaid - October 2006
Peter Pan - March 2007
The Jungle Book - October 2007
101 Dalmatians - March 2008
Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs - October 2008
Pinocchio - March 2009
Beauty And The Beast - October 2009

Now where the other titles they "supposedly" added to the Platinum List (Fantasia and Sleeping Beauty) fall into this list, I have no idea - but I guess by then we will be on to Disney BR - Disney HDDVD - Disney iBox and they could reset the whole thing.

I know this is blasphemy, but the only Disney Platinum title I've been itching for is 101 Dalmations. This is dissapointing news for me. Guess I'll have to wait longer. Oh well, still better than 2009 when it was originally gonna come out.

Snow White & Beauty & the Beast? They are already Platinum titles.

Will, I think Sleeping Beauty was dropped from the line in favor of the Masterpiece Edition, which for all intents is a platinum title.

I also have to agree with McCallum. Peter Pan will have seen 3 releases by the time we get an updated 101 Dalmatians. A shame.

Based on the supposed lineup, I would expect Snow White to be the first in high definition.

I'd probablt double-dip on Snow White just to get it in a case that matches the rest.

I think I'll stop buying these and simply wait for the Ultimate Triple Platinum Limited Masterpiece Special Gold Collection editions.

so did Jungle Book get bumped back? I can't remember if it was supposed to be spring 07, or originally was fall 07? It's been the only Platinum Title I've been wanting since Beauty and the Beast, so I will patiently wait another year...

well that doesn't make any sense, a rerelease of the SE of Snow White, but not Pinocchio that hasn't had a SE released until March of 2009 - oh come on... ?!!

Peter Pan? Again? I'd rather have Pinocchio before a third release of that film.

Well, Peter Pan hasn't had the special treatment yet, so I don't think Peter Pan is a big deal. I've been waiting for the inevitable master or platinum edition of this. But why in the world would Snow White get another release, as well as Beauty And The Beast. Oye.

Pinocchio will happen before snow white...

i also would rather have 101 dalmations sooner than later. The Peter Pan SE is a pretty good dvd as it stands....

I think they may be wanting to kick off their HD slate with Snow White since they started the Platinum series of DVDs with that important title, but they still should move up Pinnochio. Maybe they want it to be second in line for HD?

BATB could use another release (even on DVD). The first release had some compression issues because they put the work-in-progress version on the same disc as the feature.

The two I want are Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations, so I'm disappointed at the wait.

I already own:
-Beauty and the Beast (Disney Special Platinum Edition)
-Sleeping Beauty (Special Edition)
-Aladdin (Disney Special Platinum Edition)
-Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

I believe they all went back into the Disney Vault for 5 years or so, they will be re-released at the dates listed above.

Hopefully in between Platinum re-releases, they will go back and fix gold(?) releases like Hercules, Hunchback, and the Black Cauldron.
