I will say that I am digging the covers of these individual releases compared to the previous box set. The gold "edging" or "titles" match the prequels and the art feels a little more nostalgic. I was hyped on getting the tin at Best Buy but hope that they'll still come in the individual cases since there's no box set.

Yeah, that's correct. The 95 VHS release used the same master as the 93 LD, which had been THX remastered at that time. Since no VHS release had come out in 93, this was the first, and last, time the THX remasters appeared on VHS.

oh, so this hasn't been released yet????? I was just in my local (wpb,fl) Kmart and they were out so I thought they came out this past Tuesday. They were sticked at $19.99, but I figured I could do better on the price so I didn't get one.

Perhaps Lucas's rationale for the young Anakin appearing with Yoda and Obi-Wan is that the Force ghost is a reflection of how one looked when last they were a Jedi, and perhaps Anakin wasn't actually a Jedi after his redemption. He was no longer in the grip of the Dark Side, but that didn't make him a Jedi again by itself. In that light, Hayden Christensen would make perfect sense.

Is the tin available in Canada?

surfingelectrod 09-10-06 07:18 AM

I don't think a tin is worth an extra 20.00.

Looks awfully narrow to have all 3 keepcases in it.

Greedo doesn't speek Huttese.
I beg to differ, and so do the closed captioned subtitles on the DVD.

This is what I'm wondering, too. Does this set contain all three movies in their original keepcases, plus the tin? Or does the tin have housing for the three movies without keepcases? It does look awfully thin....but man, that's cool packaging.

The discs are probably on a tri-fold clear plastic holder with dual hubs (offset) on each "page".

Honestly, neither really quite make sense. How did the Shaw Anakin grow arms and legs as well as have hair that he never had? Atleast the Hayden Anakin looked like that at one point in his life (well if you follow the prequels).

Anyway, I'm so tempted to pick up this new release. My logic says "don't do it", but my nostalgia says "what are you waiting for?". I'm still guessing that there will be a big '07 set that will probably include the OUT.

mzupeman2 09-10-06 11:12 AM

Well it does make sense because of the whole idea that Anakin died a long time ago when he became Darth Vader, so it shows a 'whole' Anakin. But, I'm not defending it by any means, I'm just saying.

drainout 09-10-06 11:58 AM

In regards to the tin, one of the main things I was looking foward to about this release (or only..) was finaly having all six film's spines line up with matching colors on my shelf. If only I was handy with photoshop and knew anything about printers, it would not be an issue.
I love the idea of a box to put all the films in, but why can't they do something like they did with Kill Bill, that was handy. Plus, is it worth the extra 15-20, wioth the way everyone else's prices are looking, not to me.

Well, how did Obi-Wan fuse his top half and lower half back together after Vader sliced him in two?:)

Rizor 09-10-06 03:02 PM

Vader never did slice him in two. He just disappeared. :)

I was just about to pre-order the Best Buy tin, but once I put in my zip code, it told me the total was going to be $66.66, so I'm taking that as a kind of omen...

/seriously, it totaled $66.66
//zip code 98902 if you don't believe me...

Yes, it will be. I saw a post of it somewhere in these threads. I think the "Exclusives" thread there was mention of it.

That's four sixes, not three, so what's the beef? Besides, I thought religious freaks only lived in the heartland...

This from the "Street date" thread....

I really want to get the tin, but I don't know if I can afford it right now. College and XBOX 360 have drained my finances - I'll have to get a job.
