Any release date news on Spike Lee's "When the levees broke?"
I really was touched by this documentary. It was on HBO last week. I love Spike's documentary work more than his features (3 little girls is the most powerful one to me)
Please dont turn this into a bash Spike Lee thread but I really want to have this one in my collection. I have searched the net, and I couldnt find any concrete info on a realease date. thanks |
This is something I would definitely pick up. What a great documentary.
I really need to pick up 4 Little Girls on DVD. |
Considering that it's HBO, a couple things are certain
1) It'll be one hell of a set 2) It'll be pricey I look forward to learning the details on this one. |

Great doc. Looking forward to the DVD release and curious about the extras. (A more honest/critical portrayal of Nagin would be welcome, as well.)

I missed this on TV...figure HBO will release it within the next year.

Even though Parts 3 & 4 weren't as captivating and interesting as the first two, I would still want set this as a document of our history.
I'm wondering if they're gonna retain Blanchard's Inside Man score as well. |

Spike Lee has a real gift as a documentary filmmaker, and I'd like to see him do more of these.

From dvdactive.com:

This Spike Lee documentary will be available to own from the 19th December this year, and should retail at around $29.98. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic widescreen, along with English 2.0 Surround tracks. For now though, here's our first look at the official region one package artwork: http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...ees-broke.html |
I'll pick this up on release day: that cover art is just perfect. The Digital Bits listed some extras but I'm disappointed Lee isn't doing a commentary.
HBO has also just announced the 12/19 release of When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, Spike Lee's four-hour documentary chronicling of the death and rebirth of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Extras will include a gallery of photos set to music by Jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, along with the supplemental Next Movement documentary, which includes 90 minutes of previously unseen additional segments. The 4-disc set will SRP for $29.98. http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents |
OK, here are the ACTUAL specs (and the set is actually three discs, not four).
Bonus materials include audio commentaries with Spike Lee, "Next Movement" 90-minute epilogue further chronicling the New Orleans survivors and "Pix" photo gallery by David Lee with music by Terence Blanchard. Retail will be $29.98. |
