Which version do I have to purchase to get it? every version I've seen is crippled in some way but a non-anamorphic transfer or regular 2.0 sound.

The only 2-disc Region 4 edition is the 20th Anniversary, which even though it states on the packaging the transfer is anamorphic, is not. The single disc edition also is not anamorphic. Both versions only have 2.0 sound.

Raging Bull MGM re-releases, both single, and 2 Disc Special Edition in region1, featured: Anamorphic transfer, and the 5.1 remastered soundtrack.

New Zealand's a Region 4 country. I'm sick of studios not giving a fuck any DVD region other than Region 1. I did a little more research, and it seems the only edition of Raging Bull with an anamorphic transfer, let alone remixed sound is the Region 1 Special Edition.

The best possible version available is the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition DTS Region 2.
DVDCompare
OVERALL: R2
The new 2-Disc "Ultimate Edition", for the Anamorphic transfer, DTS audio track, Commmentaries and Additional Extras. Note that the new R1 SE has identical extras, but omits the DTS track.

Yeah, I picked up the 2 disc for $10 at Target awhile back. I personally don't care at all about remixed soundtracks (give me the original in most cases), but the transfer looks very nice and it has some really nice extras.
