BONES - Season 1 this November...

And it's a 4 disc set for 22 episodes, which means:

Double-sided. Awful.

Guess FOX was unaware of the problems Universal's Discs were plagued with.

Stupid decision.

Wow, that would be a first for FOX, and you're quite right, a very stupid decision. Here's to hoping that the 4 disc info ends up being incorrect. Just don't understand why out of the blue, they would decide to start using double sided discs for their TV on DVD releases, when they never have before.

Universal's problem is with DVD-18s (double sided, dual layered on each side). Fox usually uses DVD-14s (double sided, but only dual layered on one side), which don't have near the number of problems as DVD-18s.

Wow, that would be a first for FOX,
No, they've used them for Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, The Time Tunnel, and later seasons of King of the Hill.

TVshowsonDVD says DVD-14s. Honestly, I didn't know there were variations on double-sided discs.

That does explain the unusual (and silly) disc layout - 4 episodes on side A, 2 episodes on side B. Aren't six standard DL discs just easier? Come on.

I just hate them regardless of their capacity.

And your "Firefly" signature quote could be said to Fox for doing this. :D

This is also exactly the same thing Fox did with The Pretender. I have those sets and while I'd prefer non-flippers, I haven't had any problems with these DVDs. The only real benefit is the package won't be much bigger than a standard single width DVD case.

So, they could keep the thinner size by using thinpaks, like those Buffy and X-Files reissues.

Can't wait! Thanks!

The Prison Break set is fantastic, they should have just kept that design.

New release date is now November 28.

Same day the ANGEL slim sets are released.

Interesting coincidence!

Kinda interested in this, although the DVD-14 idea sucks. No disc art.

I've only seen one episode, and it was kinda predictable. Is every show pretty predictable? I know each episode is pretty self-contained, I believe.

Easier, and more costly. They switch to DVD-14s for shows they need to save money on, or aren't sure how well they'll sell. Not only do they save by using a DVD-14 instead of a 9, it's also fewer discs. If you assume I've talked to them about how much consumers hate these, you'd be right.
