How do you watch your 'Simpsons' boxes?
"Worst poll ever" is not an option.
|
I bought the first three seasons and I've watched maybe a total of 5 episodes. At one point I realized there was no point in me buying these sets and I just stopped buying them.
|
For now, all I've gotten around to is watching the episodes. Eventually, I hope to get around to the commentaries and other extras, but with such a backlog right now, I have enough problems just watching the main feature.
|
Here's what I do (it isn't a poll option):
I watch all the episodes with commentaries (and subtitles on) first. I've seen them so many times in syndication, I don't watch them without it, even the first time. |
I just grab a random box and disc and watch. I'v only watched the commentary on Season 1 (first episode). Other times, I'd turn on the commentary but have to turn it off cause I want to watch the show.
|
Episodes only for the time being

I watch all episodes on one disc, then go back and listen to the commentaries on the disc. I've stopped buying at Season 7, which is my favorite. It has:
Conclusion of "Who Shot Mr. Burns" (Twin Peaks parody) And my all-time fave episode, "Lisa the Vegetarian." |
I've only watched the episodes thus far, but I may listen to a few of the commentaries someday.

The Simpsons is on about 3 times a day in my area so buying the DVD's seems like a waste of money to me. |

Anyways, since I've seen all the episdes umpteen times already, I hit the commentaries first. |
my option isn't there: straight to the commentaries
|
I watch commentaries on certain episodes
|
I don't even have enough time to watch the episodes (last season watched: Season 2), so the commentaries will probably never be watched.
|
I only own my favorite season (which is season four) and I usually just watch it sit on my shelf and collect dust.
|
I watch all the episodes, then go back and sporadically watch the commentaries. It's kind of a crapshoot which ones I actually watch though. I think I've watched maybe half the commentaries from 1-7, but I couldn't tell you which ones I've seen and which I haven't.

I just glance at them on the shelf when I walk by. I don't really spend much time staring at them.
|
I've listened all of the commentaries on seasons 4-6, and watched about 60% of the episodes from those three years. Although I own the first six seasons, I haven't watched a single episode from the first 3. I'll probably get around to watching the commentaries for those episodes, but in no real rush. Haven't bought seasons seven or eight yet.
|
Only commentaries I've ever really watched are the nice and short ones for South Park. I'm sorry, I don't have loads of time to watch what I have on DVD let alone the commentaries afterwards. Besides, the long long ones bore me.
|
Episodes only until I have the time to check out the commentaries.

I watch the episodes i haven't seen in a while and the ones that are reran to death then i'll watch those with the commentary
|
I watch all of the episodes when ever i feel like it, mainly because I don't watch the reruns that much anymore. Plus its nice to see them in their original form.

some people might find this poll interesting (me, for one). try harder next time. |
Well, I have to admit I own seven seasons and have only watched the first. I will watch them but I keep watching other shows instead. Lately, I've been working my way through Futurama and I should be done with those soon.
I'll probably just watch the episodes, maybe a commentary here or there but I don't think I'll have the time. |
I've watched these DVDs so many times, I try to blindly pick a season, then "eeny-meeny" a disc, then an episode. If it's one I'm sick to death of, I'll watch with commentary.
|
I watch the commentary tracks first, unless it's an episode I've never seen before (that happened maybe twice).

For larger (non-sitcom or cartoon) shows with fewer tracks (i.e. 'Buffy' or 'Sopranos') I just watch the whole season and then trawl through for bonus materials, commentary tracks and easter eggs. |
Pretty much only the episodes. Not much time for all the commentaries.

I used to watch The Three Stooges (another example) alot in the early 90's when they were sort of popular again. I enjoyed watching pretty much. That interest never came back to me. |
I've only bought the first 3 seasons. At that time, I watched the episodes only, and moved on.
Then I realized that the Simpsons are on tv 4 times a day. Whether they are edited or not, I don't really care, the commercials are fine. I don't watch much tv, and when I do, it's because I'm doing something else at the same time. Someday, I'll buy the rest of the sets. |
I watch every episode in order. On occasion, I'll pick an episode to rewatch with the commentary- usually because it was a milestone type episode (like Who Shot Mr. Burns) or because it struck me as an episode that I'd really wanted to hear the creator's thoughts about (like the Homer vs. George Bush Sr. episode).
|
I watch all the episodes with commentaries and then the deleted scenes, then on certain episodes I go back and watch them without.

If it's an episode I absolutely fricking love, I'll watch the commentary...otherwise it's just the eps...but I'll go disc by disc before I move on. Some of the commentaries are great, but I just don't have the time to watch ALL of them.

i never use commentaries...i have almost no time to watch the normal episodes
