Great idea good thing I have only bought season 2 on dvd.

b.n. 08-03-06 07:43 PM

Well let that be a lesson (for me anyway). Don't buy any Fox TV series until every season has been released.

darkside 08-03-06 08:28 PM

I stopped after season 3, but might be tempted on this one if the discount good enough can be found. Sounds like a cool set.

MartinBlank 08-03-06 11:57 PM

CRAP!!! Are they gonna pull this bullshit with The Simpsons?

They better release the "extras" discs as singles or with the final seasons

FUCK!!!!1111!1

GoldenJCJ 08-04-06 12:03 AM

I never got around to buying any of the season sets yet, but I'll definitely start saving for this.

I think I've made up my mind not to buy ANY studio's sets until all seasons have been released and I know if a full series set is in the works.

This, plus the announcement of Six Feet Under complete series makes me weary of any season sets.

Sounds unlikely. They already announced Season 11 will come out the same day (w/ the 2-hour finale included), but no mention of the bonus discs. So loyal fans like me who have faithfully collected Seasons 1-10 will probably be totally fucked! :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

i'm in this boat as well. my big concern, however, was that the series finale would be separate from the s11 set. at least that concern has been addressed.

Upper pylon 3 08-04-06 11:30 AM

Well, I only have the first 7 seasons so far, and the movie, so it might be worth my while to sell those off and get the set.

That was my big concern too... until I found out about the bonus discs!

laseca 08-04-06 12:58 PM

For those who have Seasons 1-10 (like me), the bonus discs should be packed with Season 11 too. It's a shame to make the bonus discs available only with the big mega pack.

We are a long way from having to worry about the Simpsons. I'm not sure that series will ever be complete on DVD.

I believe that would require, first and foremost, that The Simpsons would end. I bet DVD ends before that show does.

I sure as hell hope so... I'm enjoying picking these up as they're released (at a snail's pace). But the thought of having 20+ of these chunky boxes on my shelf forever? Ugh.

I'd welcome a more compact 'complete series' option. It'll be a pain, but you can always sell the indivudal seasons and likely make a profit over the price of the complete. At least, that's been the pattern so far for most of these.

calhoun07 08-04-06 09:54 PM

Sounds like it's time to call Fox with a protest. If the anniversary special on the bonus discs is what I saw on TV a few years back, I would buy that by itself (provided it was bundled with the other bonus disc from this set). How can they say they are doing this for the fans when it is the fans who have supported the show on DVD from the beginning and with each subsequent release?

kms_md 08-21-06 04:37 PM

quite disappointing that the "bonus material" is only included in the series set. fox seems to have forgotten about the fans that have purchased the season sets over the past 4 1/2 years.

benedict 08-21-06 04:56 PM

In the UK these aired without a laughter track.

Does anyone know whether the US DVD set comes with or without canned laughter?

Michael Corvin 08-21-06 05:16 PM

yes. There is an audio option to turn the laughter on or off.

Wick 08-21-06 05:19 PM

I've watched a few episodes of this show, and from what I've seen, I've liked it. When I first read the inagural post in this thread, I considered buying it. Then, I say the major jump in price from American funds to Canadian funds. Even if it is an MSRP, fuck that.

It's unacceptable. The studios will whine and piss and moan when sales for season one sets are not up to par, but when they do get good sales out of a TV show, they go and pull crap like this and take a proverbial dump all over the fans. It also makes fans more weary about buying season sets as they go along because you never know if a better complete series set might be in the works.

Needless to say, the two bonus discs should come out by themselves. They could sell it as the MASH 30th Anniversary Special and have the two bonus DVDs in the complete series set comprise the two disc stand alone set. I really would love to own the anniversary set, but not at a 200.00 price tag.

I encourage fans to call *Fox Home Entertainment Hours of Operation (PST): M-F 8AM-5PM
1-888-223-2FOX

Call frequently. Call daily. Raise your voice and COMPLAIN about this. I called earlier but the lady at Fox claimed to not know anything about a MASH complete series set. I told her I would call back later to complain then, which I plan to do. Fox needs to hear it loud and clear that this is not acceptable. They got the message with their dumbass Homer head for the Simpsons season sets, so I think they can get the word about this as well.

kms_md 08-21-06 07:54 PM

thanks for the contact number. i will be making my opinion heard as often as possible.

islandclaws 08-21-06 09:19 PM

I currently own 6 seasons and the film but I'll more than likely sell those off and buy this complete series box set. As a huge fan of the show it's far too attractive and the bonus materials look great. But this is a MAJOR slap in the face to those fans (like one of my friends) that bought every season only to get the shaft so laggers can be rewarded. Totally weak.

DeepBlue 08-21-06 10:28 PM

Hmm, being a big MASH fan, I collected all 10 seasons only to find out that I have to sell those and buy the set to get bonus material. Silly me.

:mad2:

slop101 08-21-06 10:35 PM

I REALLY like that packaging for the full set, BTW.

Michael Corvin 08-22-06 07:02 AM

They should sell the packaging seperate with the two bonus discs. Kinda like the Friends box. Just charge another $25 for it.
