I think i'll be skipping this one. Only about half of those are even worth owning. Seems to be another effort to sap wallets.

I'd like an SE of both 1 and 3, but the rest I'll pass on.

Actually, as it stands I could track down the theatrical cut of part 1 and be set with that (right now all I have is the version you've never seen), then all I'd have to get is the part 3 upgrade.

If the price is nice down the road I'll get this since I don't own any Exorcist DVDs.

Any news on extras? Which features are ported over from old releases, new features?

I may buy this. Within the last six months, I purchased the three pack of the original Exorcist, The Exorcist II: The Heretic and the Exorcist III. I didn't pay too much, so I won't have much of a problem selling them (especially considering they're in those shitty cardboard cases,) in order to buy this.

I'm sure I won't be buying this. Not that I'm really against Exorcist films, I love them. It's just that I already have all these films and I'm sure that this boxed set isn't going to provide me with anything that's not already available. I'm not even sure 'better' transfers would be that enticing since what's available right now isn't so bad for the more important Exorcist films to own.

My guess is that there's nothing new here... just the existing DVDs in a new (compact) packaging. Which is fine by me, although I'd love to see them tackle EIII at some point with a more deluxe edition.

Did the most recent original The Exorcist DVD have the original sound mix or was only a 5.1 remix available? I would prefer that the original mix be on this disc ... and if so I don't care if WB add remixes to their heart's content.

Add Ken Russell's THE DEVILS:SE to this set and it's mine!

The Exorcist 25th Anniversary had a remixed 5.1 track and The Version You've Never Seen had a specially mixed 5.1 EX track.

The Exorcist 25th Anniversary is the only DVD worth owning out of that group. Those prequels are horrible, especially Dominion.

The Fear of God documentary would be a deal breaker for the set.

IMO, Dominion is the only sequel worthy of having the title of The Exorcist in it.

Sure, it's not "flashy" like Heretic or Beginning (thank Christ), but it's a brilliant exploration of THE Father Merrin and how his true work with God began.

Up for pre-order at DDD for $28.12
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/redir...fier=WBD083834

If you wait until the 20% off sale the total is $22.52. An attractive pick at that price, although I already own Heretic and The Version You've Never Seen. It's worth 22 bucks to me to get the OOP SE of the first film, along with the underrated Part III, even though the latter is only 6 bucks at DDD and looks as if it has no additional features added for this release. Have not seen Schrader's version or Harlin's (ugh), though it will be interesting to compare the two. Plus I get the satisfaction of retiring two more snappers.

Long story short: They hired John Frankenheimer to make an Exorcist prequel. He died, so they replaced him with Paul Schrader. He turned in a film that was not what the studio wanted so they scrapped it and hired Renny Harlin to reshoot the film. He recast most of the film and reshot it and that was released as Exorcist: The Beginning. That wasn't very successful so they released Schrader's version as Dominion:Prequel to The Exorcist.

- Exoricist 2: The Heretic (shudders)
Is that supposed to be a 'totally scary film' shudder or a 'such a bad film' shudder?

Harlin's version is such a big Hollywood slap in the face. It's so out-of-touch with the sensibilities of the original that it's not even funny.

Schrader's version isn't great until you compare it to Harlin's and then it looks practically brilliant.
