Edge Enhancement on Star Wars and Empire...
 

I recently watched A New Hope and Empire Strikes back - my display is well calibrated (service menu EE settings turned off, etc. and ISF'd - Sony 57" CRT RPTV combined with Oppo 971 DVD player). I never realized how there is very noticable EE on these movies....even distracting at times...especially on Empire. Otherwise, these are very good transfers, but the EE is a disappointment none the less. I haven't checked out Jedi yet.

Hmm, I don't remember it having much or any edge enhancement, and I usually notice.

I've seen numerous places list the Empire transfer as near-reference.

Sure you don't have boots, or maybe early copies of the shovelware laserdisc transfers coming this fall?

They are official copies.

Odd because the EE is not really visible on the Avia sharpness pattern, so that's why I don't think it's my set-up.
