Body Heat (1981) OOP
 

Body Heat (1981) is now OOP, and in dire need of an SE re-release. Since this is the 25th Anniversary, I'm wondering why nothing has been announced.

Can it be that this great movie will remain OOP on DVD?

I think one of the Warner's reps said in a online chat that they are working on a 25th Ann. re-release.

Man....what the hell happened to Kathleen Turner? There's not one ounce of hotness in her left. Did she get some bad plastic surgery at some point in her life? She just looks so weird to me now.

I guess her age just caught up to her.

According to IMDB, Turner was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 1992.

Today she exhibits a very puffy appearance in her face which some people have speculated is due to some type of steroidal treatment, similar to what Cardinal O'Connor underwent during the last years of his life.

I don't like to speculate on the health of someone I have never met, but it does seem strange for a 52 year-old woman of her means, and still involved in acting, to look like that. (For comparison, see Sharon Stone, only four years her junior).

I remember seeing Body Heat go on sale a long time ago at Best Buy (one of those 2/$15 sales) and didn't pick it up because I heard there was an SE coming "soon"...

A 25th Ann SE release was mentioned in the 2005 HTF chat, iirc.
That was the main reason I sold my dvd a few weeks back- but I didn't realize it was OOP already and was surpised how much it went ( not that much..but still much more than I was expecting given this was found easily on the under $10 racks for the last several years).

OoP is a SURE sign this will be getting a new edition.
I just wish it was also coming to HD DVD

DavisDVD.com is reporting that Warner Home Video will release a Body Heat: Special Edition on October 24th.

Director Lawrence Kasdan's noir thriller arrives with a brand-new digitally remastered anamorphic transfer and a three-part documentary ("The Plan," "The Production," "The Post-Production") featuring new interviews with Kasdan, D.P. Richard H. Kline, editor Carol Littleton and actors Kathleen Turner, William Hurt and Ted Danson. Retail will be $19.97.
