2001: a space odyssey (Classic Collection Box)

Hoping someone can answer this for me. What are the measurements of the box set that houses all the materials (dvd, poster, etc)?

I want to know, before purchasing, if it will fit on my shelf or not.

It's a ripoff, since you don't get the poster in the package, you must mail in for it.

But I've seen two versions of other Warners gift set boxes(one of which was A Clockwork Orange). One is pretty large, not sure of the inches..but it's large. While the other is just slightly larger than a basic dvd case, but still contains the extra material the set has.

I would just get the stand alone dvd since you don't really get much else in these sets. And a SE of 2001 may be coming out in the near future.

It will probably fit as the classic collection is only a little oversized over that of a regular dvd. The previous box sets like Twister were extra large but creative design experimented with this smaller size for 2001 and others. I personally love the creative design sets and have a complete collection. Whether it is worth it all depends on how much you are paying and if it is used what condition it is in. Someone has taken pictures on the amazon.com product page.

Not if they ship it rolled; the previous Creative Arts Design boxes folded their posters to fit in the box, so the posters have been ruined by creases the moment you open the box.

Julie, what's your prediction of an SE of this movie/DVD based on? I ask because I would buy that in a heartbeat!

Same here, I would be very interested in learning more about an SE. I would probably hold off on buying this, too.

It was supposedly going to come out in a few months, but I haven't heard anything recently about it.

Well I recall Warner mentioning in their hometheaterforum.com chat, about Kubrick reissues coming out including the uncut Eyes Wide Shut,a 16.9 The Shining and A Clockwork Orange...and somewhere 2001 being mentioned as in the works as well.

The four Kubrick S.E.'s in question (2001, CLOCKWORK ORANGE, THE SHINING and the unedited EYES WIDE SHUT) are supposedly due as of 9/5/06.
